Michael & Tim… what a spectacular video! Michael several biblical references come to mind with your story, most of all Romans 8:28 “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” During our cohort meetings (which I need to start again), I always appreciate your insight… now I know why! Gentlemen, this video inspired me this morning to stop making excuses and get back to the Cohort program. Thank you both for your expertise, your professionalism and most of all, your transparency! See you at the next Cohort session! 😊🎉 ‭Dave Bear

Hi not sure if I missed it, but why not import the whole ppt slide into articulate, then editing it there?

Great question. It's because importing from PowerPoint to Storyline is notoriously unreliable. I share more about that here: community.elearningacademy.io/c/knowledge-base/how-to-import-powerpoint-slides-into-articulate-storyline

Thank you for your very helpful video-it made all the difference, and I was finally able to get my e-learning uploaded on WIX! However, I’m facing an issue where the e-learning cannot display in full screen, and it doesn’t look as attractive in a smaller format. Would it be possible to direct users to the Google link instead? I'm new to e-learnings & websites... Looking forward to your advice! Laure.

I know I'm late to the party on this video, but are there any courses or professional qualifications you'd recommend for this? Would it be worth it to take a diploma on the topic? Or would self study using free resources suffice? I have already downloaded several books on e-learning design & instructional design, and have advanced skills in MS Office. I'm in the UK, and have found some related courses during my search, but some of them are for apprenticeships, and some of them seem to be cowboys (e.g. quick to take the money, but no support or communication thereafter). This field has recently peaked my interest, but if I go down this road, I'd ultimately want to do it as a freelancer.

Please do you have a link to the tools and resources you mentioned? The link in the description seems to go somewhere else. One of my favourite graphics tools is PowerPoint - which I know makes many purists shudder! But, despite its supposed 3D rotation feature, it can't apply perspective to a screenshot that you want to overlay on an angled laptop screen. So that’s when I found Pixlr, whose Free Distort tool lets you easily add perspective to a screenshot or other image. And you can use Pixlr for free.

hi there, I really like ur videos and they are beneficial. I am using articulate to design courses. For that, i also add a next and previous button to every slide. This takes up a lot of time. I copy the buttons and paste them on every slide which is very time-consuming (keeping in mind that this course has around 100 pages). Then I also need to add all triggers again to every slide which again takes a great amount of time. Please help me by telling me how I can select the button and automatically add them on to every slide please. It will be really helpful. Thanks Tim.

Quick player question -- I noticed in your example @40:50, you have the audio and CC button on the left side of the player? How were you able to place them on that side? I can't seem to do that with the player customization options (unless I'm missing something)

Megan Hubbard, your journey is so inspiring! It really shows the dedication and grit it takes to transition successfully into a new career. You did such an impressive job applying what you learned from the cohort in real time, and that commitment truly paid off. Having been through Tim’s cohort myself, I can totally vouch for the genuine support, spot-on mentorship, and personalized feedback he gives. I’m still part of his community, and his one-on-one guidance continues to be something special. Huge congrats on landing your new role-keep making an impact in the field! 👏

Or... SME comments including, "this is a legal requirement so I don't care about all of this. Just build my talking head video training because my ego is massive and I like the sound of my own voice. Oh and if you don't do this, we will 100% definitely get sued and we will all lose or jobs." This is my daily occurrence. Legal requirement training dictates everything with huge expedience bias forcing flawed and poor decisions. Tim, it would be great to see how these can be applied to "coerced legal requirement or compliance training", where performance is almost never the problem. Also, if I hear one more SME saying, this is about awareness, I'll throw myself out the window.

Hi, I am in the transitioning phase. I am still a teacher but am starting the process of transitioning to Instructional Design by filling in my knowledge gaps. I was wondering if there are any practice scenarios you're aware of where I can practice analysis design. For example you have the scenario in the video and then applied an analysis. Do you know if there are any videos or websites that will give a scenario that I can practice on?

Using a 'Systems Approach to Training' (SAD, ADDIE) incorporates the discovery of Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes (KSA) relating to Tasks (what people do) in the Analysis phase. The more I look at ID, and the craving for 'lean' or 'quicker' solutions, the more I see how the two approaches differ. I have the Action Mapping book, and am asking myself what this brings to what I know - not much being 'Systems' aware when it comes to the analysis of Training Needs. For me the real differentiation is when the Training Need needs to have Governance and Assurance (whether H&S, or Business Assurance (ISO 90000X etc). This is not something new, but then ADDIE/SAT is not necessarily the same as ID. It depends on how robust and rigorous you need the training course to be.

Also concerned about one hiring manager saying she is looking to hire people who are "hungry." She used this term a few times. What exactly does this mean? Someone who is willing to be underpaid?
@elearningacdmy
@elearningacdmy Ай бұрын
It means a candidate who is eager for the work. A hiring manager wants to hire someone who is excited for the role, just as much as a candidate want the hiring manager to be excited about them. So, I'm not sure how that translates into being underpaid? Does the mean not being excited for a job results in a higher salary? It seems to me you're confusing eagerness with desperation.
@juliedevine4154

This is interesting. Thanks for making this video. Listening to some of the hiring managers, I do have a concern. If they are looking to hire creatives and highly-intelligent employees, many of these people are neurodivergent. It's part of the beauty of what makes them so good at what they do. Yet, some of the traits they say they are looking for are often not found in these people. It would be great if someone would address this.
@elearningacdmy
@elearningacdmy Ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing. However, I'm not 100% clear what your point is. I don't think you're suggesting that neurodivergent people don't have traits of creativity or intelligence...however, that's how it reads. So, please, feel free to elaborate.
