It's not required to have the Privacy Policy URL in the Cookie Consent configuration code, but it's highly recommended so that users can find the Privacy Policy via Cookie Consent > Preferences Center.

Currently, it's not possible (as of May 2024). However, you can insert the link to the Privacy Policy page from where you can display all available languages/translations of the Privacy Policy you have (including adding automatic detection to determine what language to show the policy in, ie. detect user country, detect user browser language).

Hello! I just replied to your email outlining how the Cookie Consent Template can be modified to include "pt" language. Our next version release of the Community Template will show "Portuguese" in the language selection. The Cookie Consent tool already supports this, it's just not shown in the Apr 2024 template release.

It's up to you. Current best practices show the links to legal pages are added in the footer, around sign-up / login forms, next to I Agree checkboxes etc.

Do you mean the background color of the page as generated by Ecwid? Ecwid may assist with that. The HTML of the Privacy Policy / T&C / etc. does not include any CSS, just HTML code.

I know this is an example, but you might need to update your messaging or instructions, because currently the documentation only covers "targeting" consent. If someone applies "tracking" consent, but not "targeting", consent will not be updated fire. Inversely, if someone doesn't consent to tracking, they are consenting anyway with the targeting consent. Writing this, because I am in the process of debugging someone's cut-and-paste implementation of the documentation, and there isn't enough info there for people who don't fully understand the implications of what they are doing.

That's correct. In the example of this video, the "targeting" category from the code enables analytics_storage + all 3 ad_* tags (ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization). To separate the analytics_storage tag and have it enabled if a visitor agrees to the "Tracking" category, add a new case for "tracking: case 'tracking': gtag('consent', 'update', { 'analytics_storage': 'granted' }); break; case 'targeting': gtag('consent', 'update', { 'ad_storage': 'granted', 'ad_user_data': 'granted', 'ad_personalization': 'granted' }); break;

I’m using the updated instructions for both cases (tracking and targeting) but Google Analytics stops showing Views by page title and screen name when enabling the cookie banner. Is it normal after I press the I AGREE button on the banner?

Nice solution, thanks for sharing! As you modify the "index.php" file of the template, I would suggest to create first a child template and add the snippet int he 'index.php' of this child template. This way, the change will not be remove/erase on the next update of Joomla.

I have 2 questions. What if I didn't want to create a link to another website, what if I just wanted to add a page to my website? I copy and pasted the terms and conditions and modified it to personalize the details but there are still the <h1> computer lingo characters. I have minimal experience of coding. Can I delete these?

Yes, you can copy-paste the Terms & Conditions and remove the HTML code (i.e. <h1>, <p> tags). Similarly, you can download the T&C as Plain Text to download it without any HTML tags added.
