What is the manufacturer pre-setting when you buy it new? I think you mentioned it's on the dash/vent mode but wanted to double check. Thanks
@QuadBossElite6 сағат бұрын
To be honest I am not to sure but in the video I mentioned it on the dash/vent mode. That was what my old actuator was stuck on so the gears under the dash were in that mode. So when I got the new one and plugged it in, the actuator went to the dash/vent mode. Then I was able to install. I hope this helps

Thanks for the tips! I used several different tips from people in the comments, and here’s my experience with mine. Mine was stuck on defrost. First before you do anything, pull out the HVAC fuse for one minute and put it back in and turn your key to auxiliary on, just before start, and let your flaps all adjust for 30 seconds to see if that fixes your problem. If it doesn’t , then it is time to put in a new one.
@MIGHTYDAD12 ай бұрын
Pull the hvac fuse back out. Move your drivers seat as far back as possible. Push your parking brake all the way down to give you room for your head, you’re going to need it. Remove the vent tube and maneuver it to rest behind the brake pedal. If you have a LED bar light, place it on the floor behind the brake pedal so that you can use both hands to your best ability.
@MIGHTYDAD12 ай бұрын
Unplug your module Remove the upper and lower screws, which will be tough. Luckily for me I had a very small quarter inch ratchet set with a shorter extension that allowed me to remove the screws. Some also suggested using a 6mm Allen wrench in the back of the socket to get the top screw out. You can either use a 5.5 MM socket, or you can use a 7/32 socket. Carefully wiggle the control module out, sliding it downward and toward the left, will help get it loose from the white gear on the upper right. Compare the position of your new module to the old module, mine was not the same, if you look on the new module, it should show anywhere from 3 to 5 lines, there is a line on center of the flange which kind of points to what position the new module is set in. Mine looked to be set on the fourth position which is defrost/floor. So I moved my control setting on the dash to the defrost and floor setting.
@MIGHTYDAD12 ай бұрын
I carefully used my fingers to pull the new flange off of the new motor on the new module. Once you pull the flange off, you can see that it has flat spots on the motor to line the flange back up when you put it back on. After you have removed the flange from the module, install the flange piece under the dash by itself, slide it in by moving from left to right upward just the optway that you took it out to help capture the white gear, you have to put the flange in at a slight angle and wiggle it around until you fill it all click into place. You should notice when everything falls into place. It becomes more snug against the plastic that it is lies up against.
@MIGHTYDAD12 ай бұрын
Then put the new motor in while lining it up with the center of the flange to the backside of the motor and pushing them together with your fingers which should line up your top and bottom screws. Put the top screw in first by either using the socket itself with the screw in it or if you can possibly work it in a little bit with your fingers and until you can get it tight enough to get the socket on it and finish tightening it up. I tried to get the holder tab for the control wire back on, but it was causing too much issue with getting the top screw in so I just left that out and left it loose, it doesn’t appear that it will interfere with anything if you leave it loose.
@MIGHTYDAD12 ай бұрын
I then put in the bottom screw and tightened it back up. Wiggle the new piece a little bit to make sure that both screws are tightened, you do not want to overtighten them, but you also want them to be tight enough to hold the unit firmly. Plug your control module back in. Hook your vent tube back up. Release your parking break. Replace the fuse back into the fuse, panel for the HVAC. Make sure your fan is shut off, just so you can hear the flaps adjusting. Now turn your key to accessories on, or just before start, and you will hear your flaps begin calibrating. I waited about 3 to 5 minutes to make sure they were fully adjusted, then I turn my key back off and then I started my truck up and turned my fan on to see where my vents would be blowing from. It instantly began blowing from the defrost/floor setting like the knob on the dash of as set at.

That is exactly what I did, I took the actuator case of and inside you will see the arm is on a rotating gear I took the arm and gear and rotated it back the the original position. Then put the cover back in and finished the install.

Hey bro nice viedo. I have a question. How many man hours would you say it took you to replace this ps pump and what was your parts cost. I have this same lock, it is only good for the casual thief who pulls on your handle and walks away. After installing mine and before putting the bezel on I realized that it takes five seconds to pop the bezel off and another few seconds to either bend the locking plate with Channel locks or remove the rods with your fingers and unlock the tailgate. This is a major problem with the way the tailgates are manufactured. At the very least I would also add a hose clamp with a security screw to the left tailgate hinge, that will at least prevent the tailgate from being stolen even if the crook gets what's in the bed - if anything is there. Of course you won't be able to remove your tailgate but some of the new ones cost upwards of $2,000. There is a video on KZbin where a high school kid in the hood was busted for stealing a tailgate but they let him off easy - (I'm sure you can guess why). A few months later they caught him again and when they went to his house his backyard had a huge collection of tailgates that he was selling on Facebook. Funny how his parent didn't think of asking him why the backyard was filled with tailgates.

No, I filled up to the coolant in the reservoir to the full mark and let it sit for a couple minutes. Then I started the car with the reservoir cap off to let the air bubbles escape. Let it run for about five minutes. Then fill to the full line if the level dropped. Then you are good to go!!
