if you send it to mike B, it will be fixed correctly, knowing what you are doing and knowing the amp makes all the difference. lowering the preamp tube from a 12ax7 to a 12au7 is not fixing it.

Hold the string down at the first fret and at the 15th fret and then tap out the fifth and 7th fret and there should be a half a millimeter or so of relief go up from there as needed

5-string short scale acoustic bases convert to 6 string baritone guitar and I've done that a few times with nice results

Hold the string down above the third fret and you should have minimal to zero relief at the first fret

Either tune it up to a higher pitch accordingly or put some thicker strings on there to compensate for the scale length discrepancy

So, for $90 and a little TLC, you can have a cool little bass! Even if you didn't know how to set it up and crown and dress the frets, you could find someone to do it for $100-$150. Still a cool bass for under $250!
