Great footage man, awesome experience and a very healthy fish! Not having a crack at your estimate mate, genuine question but you sure she was around 4.5? I’ve been lucky enough to see 4 Whites now over the years, all from within my boat though haha. The only cleanskin I’ve seen was a juvenile around 2.8, the other 3 were around 4.2 a 4.5 and a genuine 5+ metre fish, all females. When they get around that 4 metre plus size range, they are fukn giants. It’s not the length that impressed me though, it’s the girth. It’s a feeling I’ve never forgotten, that girth is just staggering! They are round as a bloody car! Like a VW Beetle round. The 3 larger fish I’ve seen all had scarring, the juvenile was mint, not a mark on her, just a perfect specimen. Anyway, congrats on the experience. They are an amazing species and one that demands respect hey.

great hobby just be careful sharks appear to have learnt spear fishers have fish. and a spear creates a wound that is blood in the water signaling a wounded animal. perfect encounter just don't push your luck.

Same thing happened to me but on the second pass it came straight at me at warp speed. So I spread my arms and legs out (to look bigger) keeping my gun aimed at its face. I was about to fire, but like it read my mind it hit the breaks about 2 metres from the end of my gun and passed me again Super slowly. I could have reached out and touched it, I've always regretted not doing that.
