Has anyone heard of Jefferson proving grounds? I live an hour from it and recently found out it was the last test before sending weapons to battle. They tested atom bombs and everything there. It’s 55,000 square miles. I drove down 1 side and the fence that surrounded it was exactly 8 miles long just 1 side absolutely incredible really.

I’ve always felt like NASA and all the other space programs are just LARPing Star Trek, and governments are dumping hundreds of billions of dollars into it for no real reason. I have seen nothing to counter this point of view.

What? So you're calling an big Space Agency like NASA and saying that the only thing they do is dump money?

Given the size of these failures and the amount of fuel on the rockets (enough flammable material to get you into orbit, literally), I bet the cameramen filming each of these could feel the radiant heat coming off the explosions from where they were standing.

I think the US has better explosions. But Russia, China, and India put on a pretty good show. Is the US the only country with self-destruct options?

I grew up in Cocoa Beach starting in 1950 and into the 60s. People don't realize early on how many rockets blew up. Really, just all the time.
