For the eBay standard envelope can you download the QR code to take to the post office and they can print the label there or do you have to have your own printer for the eBay standard envelope? Great video thank you

I believe it would depend on your post office. I haven't had any luck with the Post office printing for me. But you can do office max/printing business or library :-)

I appreciate you doing this video, time to watch the rest. I am analyzing the idea of expanding my trading card collecting hobby into selling on eBay as well. I currently sell postcards and have that system perfected for my needs. A few quick comments and a question. The ESE scans are only done via sorting machines at the regional centers so taking them in really is a waste of time in my opinion, unless moisture is an issue. I just looked at my stats and I have had 4 refunds so far this year, so that is about 1 every 360 for me. The USPS for all of their bad feedback is actually really reliable. Lastly, and maybe you can comment if you have already tried it. I use 6.5x4.5 Ecoswift cardboard mailers for my shipping and they are just under 12 cents per when bought in the 1500 count order. My idea is to see if this will work well with cheaper trading cards mostly to keep the shipping process quicker and uniform to what I do now.

Interesting about the Ecoswift, I'll look into those. Anytime you can drive down costs without losing reliability is always good. Can I assume you send in toploader and team bag with those?

Thank you someone at the post office stole 28 standard envelope cards all in 1 day😢 had 3 missing in 2 years 28 in 1 week ..postal police are involved but thought I was out the cash. Thanks again.

Yeah file for sure. That is wild. But sometimes it's a simple mistake. I shipped someone 10 PSA slabs, somehow they were never checked in at the post office I dropped them off at. After 20 days I refunded the customer. Broke my heart a bit. The package showed up on my front porch 2 months later. Crazy.

Thank you for the information, sorry if these are silly questions, but after I put the label on the envelope, do I then need to put stamps or anything else on the envelope as well? Also, once I’m done can I drop the envelope in to one of those USPS (typically blue) mailboxes they have around town? I read another comment of yours about them needing to be scanned, I think I’ve read elsewhere you can put them in those mailboxes without having to go to the post office. Is that how that works/what you do or recommend?

In general if you can have them scanned it is always best. With that said you can put them in the mail and you should be fine. Here's the wiggle... Until your item is scanned, technically there is no proof that USPS took possession... Without that documented, insurance doesn't kick in. I do both if I have more time and they aren't swamped I get it scanned. If the situation is tighter I'll drop in a box. I've had a couple over the years not get scanned and I have to make it right myself, but they are 99%+ effective. Just a small risk if that makes sense. They should go from the box to being scanned. Only reason I can rationalize they sometimes don't is they do look like a letter which doesn't need to be scanned.

Great video! I have noticed a few of my envelopes returned with the non-machinable stamp requesting for additional postage. I think this is clearly due to the thickness. I've been trying to be conscious of what I spend on materials without sacrificing quality in my shipping methods. Could you maybe share where you acquired those card board inserts, envelopes and possibly suggest and inexpensive thermal printer you could recommend? I have been cutting up boxes (They are to thick and it is time consuming to cut them down to size) and printing the shipping labels from my computer and taping them on the envelope. I know it might sound silly, I have seriously been cautious in what my expenses are while I have been piloting this small business over the past couple months and as I grow with followers and learn how to increase traffic in my store, the orders are coming in daily now and at this point I want to be more efficient while spending the least amount of time when processing these orders. Any advice is appreciated. 🙂

I loved your video. Very helpful. The only money that I make comes from what I sell on eBay and it's been this way for 10 years. I'm sitting on thousands of misc cards and have been looking for information on how to start selling them. This is great info. I don't know if you'll see this but mine was different. My tracking wasn't scanned at all even though I sent it right in the post office. The buyer then says they didn't get it. I tell eBay support and they tell me wait for ebay support to set in. I wait for the ebay case then they say "Tracking wasn't scanned it's your fault refunding the buyer". I got $11.19 for the order and the PIP claim would get me $13.99. I owe the buyer $14.99 due to eBay charging me for this. I didn't get any fee credits.

Yeah if they don't scan, technically USPS didn't take responsibility. With that said when you are refunded you also don't pay the ebay fee, so it usually balances out close.

Great video. You just might want to use another example of a card sale, where you make more than .50 before labor. You might depress first-time card sellers. I wanted to just ship small art prints, but I didn't think about using 5x7 envelopes and it sounds like you are using inserts with no issues. I didn't think that they were measuring the thickness of each envelope unless it was obvious.

These are not good on there own. They really are only effective the way I use them. There is a company "Cardshellz" that has some great products if you are looking for a single protective envelope. It's really great! can ship quite a few too.

can I use eBay Standard Envelope to ship anything besides cards like makeup pencils , anything under 2oz. I was testing the 1st class large envelopes $1.50 and shipped the pencils and it arrived but since it has no tracking number I wouldnt use it.

Largely no. There .25 of an inch thickness that is allowed. So anything you put in there must be below that.

I heard on the grape vine....take this for a grain a salt. If you are not a big seller of PSA or actually watching them grading the item. ALLEGELY....They do a switch on a box and giving you the lower grade. for example. LA dodger Ohtani. (2024) You sent in 20 boxes at they look absolutely pristine. You check everything from corners to crystal clear windows . Has to be at least one Grade 10. Uhm.... Guess what..... they also have a bunch of there own Ohtani pops on there shelf. Before they seal the box. They take a pop off the shelf and WHAMO... you now got a Graded NINE (9). Now since you have older Funko Pop boxesor maybe limited editions, this will make it much difficult for them. Not impossible. Boxes that old has a unique look and just much harder to switch. Plus they categorized the item all at once. date, time, person grading and time complete. Which doesn't give them time to buy one off eBay and switch. Get it graded the same day if possible. Cost more money. I think $70.00 at Comic Con. PSA really need to start Videoing there grading process and sending a copy of the video to their customers. Showing proof they didn't switch the pop. But, like every smart corporation. They will find a way. This is why I stop sending in Pops.

While I have heard similar things, I find it to be unlikely to be true. PSA currently is grading 1.5m items per month. I don't believe they have the bandwidth or time to do that while also cheating their customers. With that being said any company can and do have bad actors within their organizations. Especially when they have expanded rapidly. I'd assume PSA audits their new employees, but they still have the possibility of a disgruntled worker enriching themselves. I do believe videoing the grading process will happen as it will cause more problems than it solves. I primarily do sportscards and they currently scan the cards in when they get there. I did catch when they damaged a card of mine in house due to that scan. But I do 500+ cards per month with our community and this was a one time occurance. Back to these Pops the community member who submitted them knew, and in a couple cases bought pops with damaged boxes. So they were aware the grading would be a little rough. For them these are for their personal collection and display at their office. So protecting them was the goal, not achieving high grades. All this being said, I do think there Pop service is a little too expensive to do often, although the results are awesome. Thanks for your comment!

Yes I have sent in some 1986 Fleer, and have handled cards all the way back to 1908. Older paper cards simply take soft hands :-)

Yes that is the policy. On Monday I was paid out on a claim that had only been shipped 17 days before. I highly suggest filing when the buyer makes it an issue. Better to get ahead of it. If you are rejected you can advise the buyer. Just my thoughts.
