Ethannn, what you listed is a good start for handling. Brakes are THE MOST important upgrade on a track car. The OEM brakes will be good for learning, but you need to flush the fluid with a High Temp, High Performance fluid. Also a high quality brake pad is 100% required. Contact G-Loc. Also make sure you have a tire with 200-300 treadwear rating once you get more familiar with the car and track days. 400TW is fine for the first couple times.

As they teach us at motorcycle track days- you're responsible for NOT hitting the rider in front of you. They're responsible for not hitting the one in front of them. You managed to avoiding hitting anyone EVEN when you got ran into the back of. GT-R is at fault, as you can see in this and their videos, and his friend being a loudmouth in the comments isn't really helping mine, if anyone's, opinion in changing. Target fixation can get you, but this is on the same level of "couldn't be avoided" as people who say they had to lay down their bike to avoid impacting a car that pulls out in front of them- brakes work best when your tires are on pavement, instead of on the grass or in the air. Glad you're alright, cars can be fixed if you throw money at them, but injuries screw you up for life.

Falequeen, Yes I am being loud to point out the inaccuracies of the video comments and all the Monday morning quarterbacks on here. Never stop on the raceline! Move over like the Evo to give other cars room to brake. No where you are on the track and no where the other cars are. Never assume someone behind you is going to stop when you give them less than a second to react to your brake lights at 120 mph. Would love to see someone else do better.

Wow, I'm soooo shocked you're still butthurt. Like I said, you're responsible for the person in front of you on the track. Everyone else managed to not crash into anyone else except the GT-R in this incident, so there's actually several examples of other people doing better right there.
@mikeosborn17426 жыл бұрын
@@TamakiRocks Actually you are also responsible for knowing where your car is on track and moving off the race line if stopping. You are responsible for giving cars behind you enough time to stop. The Evo did the right thing allowing enough room for the Neon to brake. The Neon did not give that same curiosity to the GTR. Not butt hurt at all. Just want people to take accountability for their actions. Funny, were you there? If you were not then I think you need to hold your judgement.
@mikeosborn17426 жыл бұрын
@@TamakiRocks I have heard from a couple professional drivers who feel the same as I. Lessons should be learned. Blame is should be equally distributed for the cause of this accident. The Z06 owner who wrecked starting this chain reaction has taken responsibility and apologized. The GTR owner realizes he should have looked further ahead on the track and should always anticipate a wreck. The Evo driver slowed and moved over but could have kept driving through the small debris even around the Z06 front bumper that was on the track. The Neon driver should have moved off raceline anticipating cars coming from behind and kept moving forward. Know one expects cars to stop on a front stretch where they should be accelerating. I have been racing since I was 18 years old and have always been taught that if you need to brake or slow down you must move off the race line.

@@TamakiRocks, The real problem was allowing slower cars like the Neon to be in the A group where he didnt belong. He was 4 seconds slower than the GTR and only quicker than 2 cars in the group of 17. Gridlife officials should have had him in a slower class. Not saying that was Doug's fault. I also think the first session out all drivers shouldn't have been going for record times but should have been warming up their cars and focusing on who was on the track with them.

Example the OHIO incident many years back with NASA. That was huge and unavoidable. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZnKamWMptSGj7s . To me it looks like GTR got target fixation and was focused on lining up for a pass on the front straight. He did not react in time for slowing traffic in front. It looks like there were large pieces of Corvette debris spanning the entire width of the track. You can see that the GTR hits some of them after the impact. There wasn't much open space for the evo and SRT to drive to with the amount of debris in front to not slow considerably and retain control. The GTR driver was in full commit and simply didn't react in time. Unfortunate, but I agree that the blame mostly lies with the GTR.

How was I to know he would drop wheels and lose grip? And for your information, I couldn't see the Vette crash either. All I saw was a dust cloud along the inside wall as I apexed 12 and I was lifting, and braking from shortly after that moment. Dust clouds on a racetrack are bad!
