The subject of this song was a real person, who was a Nat King Cole fan. He is considered one of the earliest hippies.

This is STUNNING....Had to stop working on my computer as my fingers stopped moving. Eivor's cover of this song is the BEST I heard.

Die wunderbarste, großartigste, berührendste Version eines wunderbaren, großartigen, berührenden Klassikers. Seit zehn Jahren Begleiter und rührt bis ins Mark. Jedesmal. Takk, godess bless you for this wonderful gift!

Oh my God, this is absolutely gorgeous. I see from the comments what I've read before elsewhere, that some people thought this was an Aurora song. I too have heard that version which Aurora performed at the Nidarosdomen Cathedral in Norway, and she does indeed make it her own. This version by Eivor is the only other one which blows my mind like Aurora's does. Nature Boy was actually written by Eden Ahbez in 1947, and first recorded by Nat King Cole in March 1948. It is such a beautiful song, and is one of those which was decades ahead of its time. It has been recorded and performed by many singers since, but this version by Eivor and the version by Aurora blow every other performance off the scale. And I must say, what beautiful scenes in this video too. I'm assuming this is the Faroe Islands? Utterly gorgeous.

"Rash dreamer, return! O, ye winds of the main, Bear him back to his own peaceful Ara again. Rash fool! For a vision of fanciful bliss, To barter thy calm life of labor and peace. The warning of reason was spoken in vain; He never revisited Ara again! Night fell on the deep, amidst tempest and spray, And he died on the waters, away, far away!" W. B. Yeats "Hy Brasail"

I always thought this was originally by Aurora. Is it neither Eivør's nor Aurora's work?
@GringatTheRepugnant6 жыл бұрын
The original is a jazz piece. It was first recorded by Nat King Cole in 1948.

@broderickelliott85277 жыл бұрын
Apparently, NOBODY has these lyrics. I'd transcribe them myself, but I don't speak Faroese, or even understand the pronunciation rules. We'll just have to pray that someone comes along who does and is willing to do the work.
@aeonia_anassa7 жыл бұрын
Weird, there isn't anyone out there who speaks the language and can waste 5 mins of his/her time to write the lyrics!? Is it a secret or something? XD
@YngviFreyr7 жыл бұрын
Do you know how many times I've wondered exactly that?! Like, is it some secret Faroese thing that everyone has agreed not to reveal? haha Same for this song called Idjagiedas by Mari Boine, she's not even put the lyrics on the booklet of the album, which I purposefully bought a hard copy of just for that one song XD

I would love the melody notes on a keyboard to play, just a one finger. I am not a piano player, but this tune is in my head. Norwegian Grammy used to sing this when I was young!Thank you, V.StenbergIs there a way to communicate privately? I will check back. I listen to this daily.
