Good video. Just a tip for future rebuilds, always bolt the exhaust onto the jugs before you torque them down. Doing this will ensure your jugs are perfectly aligned. Then you can remove the exhaust and continue the build.

I had the same thing happen to me with the rave cover bolts. top right broke off. My friend was able to do the nut weld trick and it worked. he was able to remove it for me. As far as yours, the top left should come out with ease using the trick. As far as the top right, you may want to try to use a punch/drill/ and an easy out. Good luck! I'm rebuilding my ebay 785 right now. I broke bolts trying to access the cylinder walls. Just put new (used) jugs on it and putting her back together.

Did you hone the Cylinders or was the piston rings mated to that cylinder already? Was curious
@IdiotInAGarageCNY3 ай бұрын
I honed them but didn't bore them. I think the cylinders and pistons were from the engine with water in the case. The crank was trashed but the top end was fine.
@ryanjohnson18143 ай бұрын
@IdiotInAGarageCNY , thanks, I just did that, why I asked, I'm waiting on a starter to check how it went, gave me hope. Bore and pistons and rings look great, just they left plugs out and it say for awhile and had some surface rust on the cylinder walls, very mild, only took like 5 to 6, up and downs on the cylinder. Crank is good, no rust or nothing. Cleaned raves, was nasty, 1st time for me, 787, engine

@@ryanjohnson1814 good luck, the compression test will tell you a lot once your starter is in. I still haven't tried using this engine yet

Just subscribed. Fighting through an 04 Waverunner rebuild. After replacing one jug/cylinder it still wasn’t running well and I wrecked that one too. 😢
@IdiotInAGarageCNY4 ай бұрын
Rough. I've never tried replacing only one of the jugs since I know that can cause some issues if one is more worn than the other. But it sounds like you have another issue that needs to be found and solved or you'll keep blowing the piston

It was for a few seconds, not going to blow up that fast. If you keep them running without connecting a hose, then yes, they will.

I work at a marina and we run all of ours out of water bud 😂. You can run them for 10-20 seconds with out any issue at all.

I spent hours trying to slide the chambers down over the stupid rings.....had to pay a guy $120 to do it and he showed me how to look for the pin stops for the rings!

Yea the pins are the key. I used the marker trick on the one I just did inside my 98 gtx. It helps a lot to keep track of them. Its also A LOT easier on the bench than inside the ski lol
