Maaan pretty sure I met Fred in Minneapolis when I was a crust punk kid and used to take in all sorts of kids from the rails. Either Animal House or The Laberynth or The Cube (different punk houses)...so familiar.

Walking with hands in pocket. Yep, had my pockets filled with sand more than once. Guard Duty at carpool as with most. The guys selected for the storage Bunkers carried an A1 with 5 rounds (I believe). The ones sporting perfect dress would either get office duty or released... March 1973, C-4-1, 1st Platoon

Both of these guys need haircuts real bad. I walled some of these types of guard duty in 1964-65 at Ft Campbell, KY and they would never have made it there. Most of this type of guard duty was inside our motor pool on the weekends and the after duty hours. We had to guard our motor pool against other units stealing parts etc. off our vehicles. I must admit it was pretty dull during the wee hours of the morning. Not at all like the guard duty I walked at Ft. Dix, NJ for several days in a row while waiting for overseas shipment in Nov 1962. We were locked and loaded, I had to guard the HQs building at Dix and snow was about 2 feet deep. One of my buddies was guarding the post water tower, and two other buddies were guarding the WAC barracks. No one got in or out from 2200 hours to 0600 hours in those days. The four of us were heading for deployment to Turkey.

Guys the absolute best way to live is through JESUS CHRIST. Death is coming for everyone of us and its Hell without JESUS. No I'm not condemning anyone nor casting final judgement only JESUS can do that. What I'm doing is warning anyone that reads this whether you ride trains, bikes or sit in an office chair it does not matter nobody is good enough for HEAVEN the only way in is through JESUS. We all have a day and time we will die , mine could be today but I'm ready so please be prepared and join me before GODS THRONE. I'd rather have you as a brother or sister than a friend so please turn to the FATHER and LORD of all JESUS CHRIST. Yall take care and be safe I love you guys but most importantly JESUS loves you.😊

I don’t remember anyone with hair or sideburns that long when I was there in 1970 ( D-4-1 )

In 73 you had the choice of short thru long. Couldn't touch ears, nor in eyes, but could be long and boofy on top. Regulation burns were to lower ear opening. Mustache no lower than upper lip.

I'm eight months from retirement with full pension. I can still run pretty well, and aside from chicken and cheese I'm vegan. I'd better give up booze before retirement or else I might get crazy enough to try this.

@2:08 - what I particularly love is he says he loves the South and the begins with Kentucky. hahaah it's a northern State man. Alabama...um...he says he's been to 30 States and his favorite are in the South. he names four, but "not Florida Florida sucks". If he'd have come to Louisiana (northwestern to be specific) he'd have started with Louisiana and not Florida. Hobos who are serious riders know they can come to Shreveport for a hot meal and a legal squat. Shreveport Police will call Dirt-Life Ministries Rev. Robbins (yours truly) and if the offense is simple trespass or loitering they are released into ministry custody, no jail. And on their way next hop out. It's not uncommon to find them just roaming around. They like to hop trains and it becomes habit just like anything we do. Thanks to Ben for posting this video. Great work. God bless the travelers.

@3:10 - I've met some pretty rough dudes and some fairly decent men. Respectful all to some extent, others completely free, one down right crude - an FTRA member named Ocean. Good lord I love that guy!. Such a tormented soul and a tender-heart. nasty, vulgar and vile and a sweet lovable joker. He's a pushover, but he'll knock you into the ground. He was pushed from a moving train and took a train across the face, survived, and had tracks tatted on his face. This guy is like the Marvel Juggernaut; unstoppable. Ocean has been in and out of every spot across this country. He's told me, you can get misplaced and end up stranded in the middle of the middle of nowhere. out of luck. Those packs sometimes are all that saves your life. Ocean was stripped of all his belongings and his dog and thrown off a train. Basically, left for dead.

Dec. 8, 2018---Thanks for the video, but where was this at? There's another duster at some military museum in Kansas that I got to check out when I was a truck driver. Shame they've been left out in the open like this for the weather slowly turning them into rust buckets.
