Great stuff, thank you. I'm thinking of buying your book, but are there songs suitable for beginners? Also, is your accordion the Scandalli Intense Cromo?
@RuneBarslundАй бұрын
Hi Daniel! Thank you, I'm glad you like the video 🙂 Some of the tunes and songs in the book are relatively easy to play when it comes to the melody itself. But, once you add the bass it becomes more complicated so it's not a beginners book. However, I would say that you should be able to play the melody line (without the bass) of some of the tunes after a relatively short period of learning the accordion. Some of the easier tunes are O'Carolan's Air 👉kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGmbg5yId86Eh7M and Ae Fond Kiss 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/anm3fqSOaryhqKc My instrument is a custom-made accordion based on Scandalli's C 432 which you will find here: scandalli.com/c-342/?lang=en Apart from having it made in mahogany wood I also had quite a few other things I wanted to be different from the standard model. You are welcome to write me an e-mail if you want to know more about all the specifications, tuning, etc 🙂 All the best, Rune ([email protected])
@danielmolidor7304Ай бұрын
@@RuneBarslundThank you for answering my questions. Your instrument is beautiful, both visually and audibly. I may ask for the specs someday if I become good enough to deserve ordering and wielding such an ideal accordion. In the meantime I will get your book and work up to it. I am officially a fan.
@RuneBarslundАй бұрын
@@danielmolidor7304 Thank you Daniel 🙂 Yes, I do feel very lucky to have such a nice accordion 😊 The register in use here is a 8'+8' tuned with 2 cents difference so if you like that sound you could look for that specific tuning when you buy an accordion - or just get it tuned like that 🙂 I hope you will find the book useful. I forgot to say that there are also tips and tricks on Celtic ornamentation, extended chords and other things which I think will be of help if you are a beginner 🙂

is the music book for C or B free base or both? regards
@RuneBarslund4 ай бұрын
Hi Andy! I play C system myself and therefore I have suggested free-bass fingerings that suit that system. These have been kept to a minimum so players of the B system won't be too confused or disturbed by the fingerings. I have not suggested fingerings in the right hand because of the different types and layouts of accordion keyboards. I had my colleague, Estonian accordion player Tuulikki Bartosik, test my arrangements on her piano accordion with B free-bass to see if they would work for that system. I don't remember if she tested all 15 tunes or just some of them, but I do remember that she said that the arrangements she did test could be played with the B system without problems 🙂 Just let me know if you have any other questions about the book 🙂 All the best, Rune

KZbin is a strange place. As a general rule the better the musician the fewer views they get. This channel deserves far more exposure!
@RuneBarslund5 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for the kind words 🙏 I'm glad you like my music and my channel 😊 Nowadays, it seems like KZbin favours channels that upload new videos every week. We put quite a lot of work into my videos, which takes time, and costs money, so I'm not able to release videos often enough for my channel to crack the algorithms, I believe 😕 Or maybe it's just because there are too few people who are interested in accordion music 😅
@tullochgorum63235 ай бұрын
@@RuneBarslund Yes - KZbin seems to value quantity over quality. So people churn out potboilers rather than invest in fine productions like this. What depresses me as someone who loves traditional Scots music is that some pretty wee American lass with no sense of the music at all gets 100k views, while brilliant musicians embedded in the tradition struggle for exposure. When I was a kid the accordion had become unfashionable in Scotland - it was associated with corny ceilidh bands. But then Phil Cunningham came along and changed everything. I knew one of the founders of Silly Wizard and was surprised when they invited Phil to join. I thought it would make the band uncool. How little I knew! But in Denmark the accordion has always been quite popular, I think? As I child I remember a great village dance in Tisvildeleje with a very fine accordion player.
@RuneBarslund5 ай бұрын
@@tullochgorum6323 Yes, it's frustrating how the algorithms often favour quantity over quality these days. It used to be different, which was a good thing for most folk and trad. musicians, but those days are gone. I've heard many trad. musicians complain about the new algorithms and how their videos get far less views nowadays. You are right, it's not always the best musicians who get the most views. A lot of other things plays a big role too. Phil Cunningham is an amazing musician and composer! He is a gift for the accordion and for traditional Celtic music in my humble opinion (even though the tradition is amazing already of course). The accordion was very popular back in the 20's and 30's here in Denmark, but we've struggled a lot with the image of the accordion in Denmark for many years. The same goes for traditional music here, but that is slowly changing for the better. Fingers crossed the same thing will happen for the accordion 🙂🤞
@tullochgorum63235 ай бұрын
@@RuneBarslund Good to hear that trad music is regaining ground in Denmark. You have a wonderful heritage and it's so important that the young people learn to appreciate it! I've been aware of you music since I was a kid. We had a series of wonderful Danish au pairs and they introduced us to the tradition. We're still in touch with one of them - she became Minister of Education! I was lucky enough to spend some time with the talented fiddler and scholar Ditte Fromseir who is an expert on the tradition on Bornholm. Interestingly she has tracked down a strong English influence which reached Denmark via Norway in the 18th C. We're all interconnected! If by any chance you don't know her work, she's a hell of a musician! kzbin.info/www/bejne/goWVeYiXg7iZftE As you probably know, the tradition is pretty healthy in Scotland and Ireland. Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain are national treasures and pack any hall. Trad is less mainstream in England where I'm living, but there's an abundance of young talent and a healthy future.

@@RuneBarslund tak for svaret. Der stod i artiklen, at der er 2 cent forskel på dine to 8 fods kor. Falder det i kategorien "flad tremolo"?
@RuneBarslund Жыл бұрын
