I had the opportunity to meet Vance Brescia who wrote this song yesterday. He was cheering up the patients at St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown NY. Fun guy who made my day. Thanks so much.

No heartaches, felt no longer lonely Nights of waiting finally won me Happiness is all rolled up in you And now with you as inspiration I look toward a destination Sunny bright that once before was blue I have no more than I did before But now I've got all that I need For I love you and I know you love me So take my hand I'll start my journey Free from all the helpless worry That besets a man when he's alone For strength is mine when we're together And with you I know I'll never Have to pass the high road for the low I have no more than I did before But now I've got all that I need For I love you and I know you love me Play, magic fingers Eee haa Oh, pick it, Luther... I have no more than I did before But now I've got all that I need For I love you and I know you love me Yes I love you and I know you love me

Gen Xer who 'discovered' the Monkees on MTV/Nickelodeon mid 80s and bought this album (20th anniversary + this comeback hit) on vinyl as a 13 yr old...then bought up all of the 'old' Monkees albums (Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn and Jones Ltd. was my absolute fav of their OG albums...think I literally wore it out from so much use) My mom, just 20 yrs older than I, was my age when the Monkees originally aired...Too bad she was never allowed to watch the show (strict religious family) ...I never missed an airing of the Monkees in the mid 80s

4:00 I thought it was Pepsi, as PepsiCo was a sponsor for the Monkees during the 90s reruns.

That wink at the end always puts me into 12 year old girl hysteria mode. Growing up I had the biggest crushes on Mike and Peter. When my mother told me they were “old men” (this was in the mid 80s) I cried for a week straight. Watching the show on Nickelodeon I had no idea it was an older show. But I still love them and squee every time I see that wink. 😉

Where was Davy in this song/video?
@nedroulston95434 ай бұрын
I'm old enough to have watched their wacky Saturday morning shows and remember they weren't taken seriously because they were not supposed to be real musicians. As time went on I came to realize songs like "Daydream believer" "Pleasant valley Sunday" and "last train to Clarksville" were not just really good, they also created a visual image in my head that reminds me of an imaginary place that feels familiar. When they toured again in the mid 80s "That was then" turned full on nostalgia and the monkeys became beloved. I was sorry money, arguments and careers kept them from performing as 4 most of the time, but I think later in life they really came to appreciate that being in the band defined their lives.

Was The Philippines the only country to issue this song on a 45? America didn't issue any singles at all yielded from "Headquarters". England had the biggest hit with "Randy Scouse Git" from "Headquarters". The BBC and other radio outlets in England at the time said that "Randy Scouse Git" was Liverpool slang for "horny sexual jerk." It was an insult used by Alf Garrett to his son-in-law on the TV show "Till Death Us Do Part." It was the British equivalent to Archie Bunker's "meathead" insult to his son-in-law. Micky Dolenz had to change the title to "Alternate Title".

Watch some more of their videos. The Monkees often had fun with the lip-synching. Especially Mickey. Sometimes it’s downright hilarious.
