Faux leather is basically plastic. You have to use rit synthetic dye for this material, not regular rit.

You can paint on a shirt with a fabric paint made of one tablespoon of regular acrylic craft paint mixed with one tablespoon of warm water mixed with a pinch of hair conditioner.

P.S.You can cut the holographic laser foil gift wrap and or holographic laserfoil duct tape into small motifs like heart shapes or star shapes or flower shapes and then uses these motifs to cover up stains on your purses.

Also you can paint on your purses with permanent (alcohol based) markers.

You may also want to try covering up stains on your purses with decoupage. You may want to try holographic laser foil gift wrap and or holographic laser foil duct tape for decoupage instead of paper napkins.

All Purpose Rit dye is for cotton. Rit Dye More is for Synthetics. I wish they'd make that more clear.

Kudos on the video format, editing, music, technically this video is a slam dunk. The project itself had me screaming lol! In the future, do some research on your materials. This not only gives you free content for the video (explaining items and processes) but allows you to safely and effectively achieve a goal. In this case, you're working with essentially plastic. PU leather is often made from polyvinyl, which is not porous. As you found out, regular dye does not penetrate the surface. This is where a solvent comes in. What you essentially have to do is start with a clear solvent, mix in your dye, then carefully apply the dye solvent mixture to the item. The solvent breaks the covalent bonds that hold the polymer chains together, when the solvent evaporates the dye is left behind and color is infused into the surface of the plastic itself. MEK and other solvents are highly toxic so always use safety equipment and work carefully.

The dye you used is Rit All-Purpose dye for natural fibers, which is probably why it didn’t work Rit DyeMore dye is meant for synthetic materials, and can even dye hard plastic and synthetic wigs, though it needs to be in constantly boiling water or else it won’t work. Maybe try that next time? I think it would work, but I’ve never tried it on faux leather.

Hi there my name is Gary i am a textile pro. Now what you did was wrong you tried to dye paint some dyes will stain paint but to dye that purse is impossible with that method. What you need to do is take your acetone or Metho and first wipe off the clear coat which is a lacquer then go to your woolies or Coles or where ever they sell shoe products and buy the white leather paint and dab it on the stain with a sponge and let dry then repeat until you cant see the stain and if the white does not match sponge the whole bag and go to your shoe repair and buy a clear coat and spray on lightly let dry and repeat 2 more times. But now you have damaged it' to late but next time. If I had that bag now I could restore it. So it is possible to obtain a good finish u just need the right product and the know how. Nice try anyway. If you need any advice i am happy to help you can contact me at [email protected]. All the best.

RIT Dye has a specific product designed for synthetics (like your PU bag), it's called RIT DyeMore. I would advice using a plastic bucket when dying PU material (like you did the first time) because using metal (like the pot you used the second time) is going to damage the PU material by burning it when it touches the metal. Here's a link to the RIT DyeMore www.ritdye.com/type/dyemore-for-synthetics/
