Looking forward for new content, don't matter if you repeat CPUs, maybe different benchmarks or builds, as others said we truly miss you, if you can't don't worry, we undestand, love from Argentina.

I wonder if you could get the ram up to 4 megs with these drams Fujitsu MB81C1000A, NEC µPD421000C (often spelled UPD421000C), MCM511000A. I had a 16mhz 286 back in 1994 with coprocessor. I was still learning. Wish I had kept it as well as a Tandy my brother had given me that we maxed also a 286 with deskmate. Deskmate should have had a dialup service. People could have done some things it was as good as geos.

Do you still have this drive? I wonder if you could lend me a hand and take some pictures or record a slow motion video close up of the mechanism. I'm trying to fix one of those right now, and it seems it was dropped at some point. I mostly got it working but the white arm to the top of the frame at 8:09 is not moving in time on mine for some reason, and I'm wondering if I might be missing a spring

I love your videos about those old CPUs. My first home CPU was an Intel 486 33 MHz; it was the preferred brand, although in my professional training, I used a 286 to program in COBOL. Later, I got to know AMD with a friend’s DX4, which was quite fast. As for Cyrix, they were always listed in computer magazine price lists as the cheapest, even below AMD.

I recently had a 1tb seagate 2.5 inch laptop hdd fail on me... flippin head crash :( don't fret i have plenty of backups Anyway, I tore it apart for one final appreciation session before i send the disk to ewaste and the platters to a local shop for data destruction. ... Seeing the internals of that modern SATA drive reminded me of this video. Definitely worth rewatching. It's saddening how that drive's 145 Mb/s sequential speed is seen as "slow" by modern bloated software. Man do I miss when computers didn't need billions of numbers of RAM just to frickin START UP...

My first PC was a 8088 10mhz in turbo mode with 8087. I didn't know how lucky I was until a friend with a 286 copied some games for me. When he saw them play on my 8088 he was blown away. He had more ram but the games he gave me benefitted from the 8087 math coprocessor. I think Prince of Persia was one of the games.

I remember taking a similar test when it was current. In DOS it worked out +- similarly, but in Windows95 there was a fundamental difference. While the Pentium 66MHz handled multitasking just fine, so it could be said that the system ran smoothly and the user experience was OK, the X5 was nowhere near as smooth. The board on Pentium was FIC PM-900, on AMD X5 I don't know what kind of board it was, but at that time it was new and modern PCI. I tested it in an unclocked state, but the Pentium could be overclocked. I've never met a 60MHz Pentium that wouldn't run at 66MHz. I also tried 80MHz and it worked too.

Existuje jeden případ, kdy VLB grafická karta má smysl pro 386: když chcete provozovat něco s akcelerovaným grafickým rozhraním :) V roce 1995 chtěl Windows 95 doslova každý. Tedy i ti, kteří měli velmi slabý hardware. 823 / 5 000 There is one case where a VLB graphics card makes sense for the 386: when you want to run something with an accelerated graphics interface :) In 1995, literally everyone wanted Windows 95. That is, even those who had very weak hardware. I even saw them installed on a 386SX 33MHz with 4MB RAM and a 44MB hard disk (compressed by Stacker I guess) just so the person could use it even though he had almost no space left on the disk :D I told my friend it was stupid but he didn't to say It took all afternoon to install :D But I've seen Win95 even on a 386DX 40MHz with 32MB of RAM and that worked well within limits. VLB graphics and a controller would be just right there. But of course it will also help with Win 3.11 or OS/2. Or when we used browsers (also for DOS) of the ACD See type. I also remember how we used to watch videos in the small window :D

Great video. I have being wanting to get a CRT, but a 1080i one, just for gaming. Though there are a lot on eBay, It would be an arm and a leg to ship it to my country. I think I'll get a small one instead, although there a no 16:9 in small scales or HDMI input. Friendly observation. @ 12:00 you actually start playing 1993 Epic Pinball, where "Jungle Pinball" is my favorite table. 1992 Pinball Dreams is another game, where the 4th table "Nightmare" is my favorite.

I bought one of those Kingston upgrades in the late 1990s to upgrade a Dell tower with an SX-33. It was like night and day, even compared to an SX twice as fast as yours. I ran that machine into the early 2000s before the motherboard failed.
