Thanks for this video Ann! I'm halfway through current BodySlims course and we were asked to carry around our weightloss so far for 30 minutes, 12 lbs for me, which didn't sound like much till I put it into 2 shopping bags and hauled it around. Shocking 😮 😊

Is it not redundant to say “no bread” if you are going to follow it with “no carbs”? I am genuinely curious.

I call out ‘no bread’ because it’s a single item that we struggle with, like alcohol. Carbs are a necessary part of our diet but aim for complex carbs - but we need to reduce simple carbs and aim for complex carbs. Here is a super article that may help say what I was trying to say. Lovely advice! I work an office job and barely leave my desk, and when I get home I also don’t move around a lot. I always felt like exercise needed to be going to the gym and all, but it is actually much simpler, just like you put it. One hour of walking/cycling made a massive change in my life. And it did wonders to my mental health too!

This doesn't work if you're underage in school working have insomnia or any Ed that makes you gain weight or if you can't control your diet because of financial issues or because someone else is feeding you

Thank you for posting - I'm loving seeing these as I'm in BodySlims right now for the 1st time. There's something comforting about an extra set of support videos from you, so I really appreciate it. May I ask you a couple of questions? What was or is your source for accurate calorie counting? I'm using an app called Lose It!, the free version. It's very flexible in that it lets us adjust portion size to a tenth of an ounce. However, the databank of calories is a mix of accurate brand names and calories and user-generated calories - and sometimes they're really wrong. I understand weighing raw meat is more accurate, but in doing that, this app seems off. I'll then google it, but there are wild differences in the answers that come up there too. My second question is, if you know, about metabolism. I saw online that when we drastically reduce calories, our body can think it's about to starve and slow its metabolism way down. In two weeks of measuring, weighing, not having any extra foods or drinks and even if my calories are sometimes slightly off, it's not by several hundred, I've lost 1.5 lbs and 1 pound. Any thoughts?

Hi Anne. Thank you for the inspiring video. I am nearly 70 and on my second round of bodyslims. Everything you mention here is absolutely true, the program truly works if you surrender to it. My first round, I was slightly skeptical (who is this guy? what's with all the stories?) but it started clicking after about a month. This time seems a bit easier as I already know it works if you do the work. And I so love every minute of the seminars and stories that are all there for a reason! Well if you gained weight what did you think you gained if it wasnt body fat? It wasnt bone was it? It was obviously fat!!!. Nithing amazing about that! I would have thought that was obvious!!!!

My point was that the weight didn’t change much by the body fat did - my ‘weight gain’ wasn’t changing the scale but it was affecting my body composition. Understanding the value of calories - and not just counting calories - was the thing that made all the difference to me finally losing weight and being able to maintain the weight loss. Hope that more clearly explains the point I am trying to make. 🤗

You got this! Remember - you didn’t gain the wait in 70 days so be patient with yourself (don’t cut corners) but have patience to allow your body to transform. Do everything the diet says and you will completely change - it took me about 8 weeks to see it!!!

Do the seminars get better? I was hoping it would help with the mental stuff, but the 2nd seminar just felt defeating because I bought a bunch of crap based around what I could work with on the 3 for 2 stuff, but my body is generally not happy with that kind of food, and so I feel like crap, and I knew going in I wasnt cutting out carbs when they went there because my doctors don't want me to do that because of my thyroid but when that and eat salad was basically the entire week of stuff.... oh, cant forget the quit making excuses type comments through Ger in the Air I am seriously second guessing what Im doing and how to make it work.

@@GoingGreenMom the only way to succeed in this diet is to do exactly what is prescribed. You can eat complex carbs. No one will advise you to eat simple carbs. This is critical to understand - complex carbs are veggies so that’s fine - but count all calories. Each week builds and if you are doing the diet you will start to feel better. Take a good look at things you ‘will or won’t’ do - that was my problem for years. My best advice is to do it all for 70 days. It’s 10 weeks. You can do anything for 70 days - you may not think you can - but you have to let go and have faith. 💕 it’s really the only way to succeed.

I was so looking forward to your week 2 video - thanks Ann! I am 64, way overweight, struggled for 30+ years up and down the scale, getting heavier, each time, ever since I had children. I lost 5 lbs! And considering I have been determinedly losing weight myself all year (was down 15 on my own) - this is a remarkable result and I am all in. But I do know how defeating it can be when scale does not cooperate and your encouragement is priceless 😊

I really like the idea of recording "wins" for the day. (My win today was passing up on my favorite banana muffins that were on sale for 1/2 price.) I am in my first week and am concerned about the lack of complex carbohydrates beyond fruits and veg. Thanks for such a thoughtful and inspiring video.

I had heard so much about like the 3 for 2 and such I was hoping to find some ideas I could easily tweak to fit my dietary needs.... like subbing kale for spinach or that kind of thing, and I had to google most of the stuff on the list to even figure out what it was. The one that sticks out in my memory was some sort of porridge turned out to be oatmeal. Just didn't realize stuff had such different names or that it wouldn't be stuff that could easily be swapped for ingredients here (we are a high percentage of ingredient only household for meals).

Unfortunately vegan diets as well as many of the options on your videos as well as his plans are high lectin, oxolate, and/or histamine which is problematic for me. I'm working on it. It might take me awhile, but I will figure out a good enough plan by the time I'm done I'm sure. Just not an instant transition because when I was adjusting diets before I wasn't paying attention to calories at all.

I tried chick pea pasta and it tasted fine, but it completely fell apart in my pasta salad. My kids said it tasted grainy. I felt blah after anyway (chick peas are high lectin so not really a great option for me), but had high hopes for that 19 grams protein per serving.

Here’s a video that gives some insight to my approach - I take an 80:20 approach to my weight loss maintenance - in other words 8 out of 10 meals are ‘just right’ and on target for 1200 calories, and maybe 2 meals out of 10 are not - maybe I have a baked potato or pizza! It’s challenging to change bad habits that I’ve been doing for decades, but it really is more about self discipline, self control and creating a routine that reinforces my goal to do the next right thing. Like only buying groceries that are good for me and not popping into Starbucks etc 💕 I haven’t returned to my pre-weight loss weight so I can quickly jump right back in step now that I know what works. Before this program, I would lose and gain and gain more each time. BodySlims has changed my entire my health!

I’m 5’11”💕 What Should Your Calorie Deficit Be? A good rule of thumb for healthy weight loss is a deficit of about 500 calories per day. That should put you on course to lose about 1 pound per week. This is based on a starting point of at least 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day for women and those assigned female at birth, and 1,500 to 1,800 calories a day for men and those assigned male at birth. It can be unhealthy to take in less than that per day. Talk to your doctor about the minimum calories you need. Found this at Web MD 💕
