Both parents are right, a child does need both nurturing but they also do need to learn how to grow up, they just budded heads because they aren’t together anymore and Reva wanted the finer things in life for Tre and herself, while Furious just wanted Tre to be a better man than him

Its crazy how this movie tried to show the problem with black community and people missed it Which was rev Angry, career over family bw shes the reason men dont stay like her saying “Stay before i make a fool of both of us” Most asian/white/mexicans if u make a scene Women will say “stop……. This is embarrassing” Not bw

Director made a nice dialog here: from it following can be seen - during their marriage Furious's word had more importance than her and he was used to that - that's why he tried to tell her off - but she didn't let herself be told off. In marriage his word was final, but she is her own now and she let him know she doesn't bow down before his decisiveness any more. She lead him through, was brisk but gave him a little compliment and got a suspended smile from him and in the end he conceded to her.

So when a single mom raises her son she's special but when the singer father raises his son he's not special. Double standard BS!!

This is my mom and dad (now divorced) talking about my baby brother, who just turned 18 in June of this year. He’s a military brat, so he gets his way with my mom, where as he doesn’t with my father whom is a Navy Veteran. Yet there is me, the oldest sibling of 3, who has to give him reality checks 24/7. I tell my mom all the time that the boy doesn’t need to be softened to a point he thinks the whole world is beneath him. He needs way more discipline and to just freaking FOCUS. He is so smart, but so damn lazy 🥴. I truly don’t understand it 🤷🏽♂️

Great writing. She knew exactly where to hit him. What he said hurt her, she pushed it aside, gave him the respect she thought he deserved, then kicked his ass, flirted with him, and kicked his ass again. She played him like a chess opponent and won

Don't you think they did that on purpose to show as much as she wants to rewrite her past, she's still from a different world than the one she's trying to fit into now? It's a subtle but highly effective detail.

She raised Tre for like 5 years, and Furious did the rest. She needs to get off her high horse. She is not this star mother she thinks she is. She left her son in the hood so she could go live this luxurious life and now she wanna pass judgment. Tre would have been just like dough boy if she raised him alone. She let his daddy do it and by high school graduation, he had a job, a girl, he wasnt in a gang, no babies, had a college plan already in motion and was thinking about marriage. Tre was damn near better off without
