This was radical at the time, tame and simple in the present. Great band for all time, highly unusual in the present. Beats just about anything in the present.

I'm probably not the first person to point this out, but I didn't see it mentioned in any of the comments I scrolled through. Since there is no song writing credit given in the above info box it's worth pointing out that this was first recorded by the Canadian folk singing duo Ian and Sylvia and was written by Sylvia Fricker Tyson. This version by the We Five is great, but it's worth hearing the original as well. Ian and Sylvia recorded it several times, but the first recording was on the album "Northern Journey".

In 1965 , I went to the Disneyland that year from Palo Alto to Riverdale Ca. Hiway 101 got off at Bakersfield and travel along LA Hollywood , l remember that song. Most likely most soldiers I know who went there special forces and drivers . In 1966, l a got the latest look a the latest APC M-113 , at least train load of them to San Francisco port headed for Vietnam . America was getting into a little big war. You see passing thru San Diego ports would have alarmed the whole U.S community. I could only speculate war clouds just on the horizon. I used to live close to the rail road .

Modern groups use all sorts of lights and gimicks to hide their lack of talent. Bev. could just dance and sing in less than two square feet of space; she was so talented and hot too!!

I loved this song when it broke, listened to many times over the years. But am I wrong? I just now caught the drug connection by "going to the corner just to relieve my pain"? Yeah, I'm old, but honestly, I seldom listened to the meaning of the words in songs back then, but I knew them as I sang along. Is that what they were referencing, drugs?
