Im the smallest on my mat and just about any mat that i step on being 5’6 not even 120 pound blue belt. My best positions are leg lock entanglements and i deeply advise you that them shits are not a game. You can feel the knee moving around on your hip/stomach and ive busted a guys knee so bad it made me sick to the point i puked. Absolutely disgusting

I'm the exact opposite... I'll tap even a bit early to save arm or leg ligaments but won't tap to chokes, and try fighting to get out til I'm out...

It’s oldschool to think like that, leglocks are a modern thing it kinda sucks due to the damage is does kinda silly for a sport better don’t but sometimes some one will do anything to win
@hotfunyunsop6196Ай бұрын
Leg locks are valid, getting permanent damage because your ego can't handle a loss isn't.

Say whatever you want about tradition or honour, if you know your leg is about to be destroyed and you don't tap, you're an absolute idiot. There's no instance where that isn't dumb af

I grew up watching UFC in the mid 90's, but wasn't exposed to K-1 until a buddy shared his library with me a few years ago. I watched them all, and it made me really jealous that I wasn't a fan when it was happening. Michael became my favorite combat sports commentator. Pride, UFC, Strikeforce, One, Rizin, PFL, IFL, WEC, KOTC, all had their moments, but K-1 was completely epic in every way.

I always tap to heel hooks don’t care sometimes even in training session guys are so keen on getting it even though I know I could defend it and escaped it many times but I would rather be safe and drop my ego and tap to it Just went through a knee surgery and I will never compete in ju jitsu seen to many guys break their arms and destroy their knees If your not gonna go pro and make money off it it’s not worth competing in it and people say ju jitsu is a gentle art and boxing is more dangerous I feel I rather compete in boxing then lose my limbs tbh . I could atleast wear a headgear through amateur competition. Some dude with a big ego sooner late gonna snap your arm or leg shit is fucken scary
@Notpoop9064 ай бұрын
Refusing to tap to a leg lock is stupid. The reason they weren't allowed (and often still aren't) in competition is because of how devastating they can be and how quickly the damage can happen before a guy even has the chance to tap. With leg locks you're fine until you're not. There's nothing cheap or easy about them lmfao.

The Gracie clans “never tap” mentality destroyed so many careers before they started. I knew a lot of young guys who never tapped to kneebars and ankle locks who got hurt and never grapple again. There’s no shame in tapping, you lost but you fight another day and try to learn from it, if you’re caught and try to “tough it out” you’re just trying to protect your ego more than your joints.
