Woo hoo! Some Presarios are still chugging, including one from 2004, albeit a faster but hotter Celeron! The extended RAM test and diagnostics check on these is pretty thorough and a hidden F6 battery charge test too. Any idea how to debloat a Plop manager imoacted BIOS, i cant into Windows XP, only Linux variants like Antix and Debian, and Antix is way faster than XP SP 3 on this! Also the clock doesn't sync on this bad battery antix pc!

microsoft changed the way windows reported ram since vista sp1. older versions report the actual ram usage, allocated from the bios. in other words, its reporting 960mb, cuz the remaining is being utilized for onboard graphics.

@@urzamaster Ahh, I'm sorry to hear that! I had a 55SX had I had to trash because of a bad motherboard, but still have the hard drive with some data on it. I was trying to figure out how to adapt or get another machine to recover it. This was before I found this small scene, otherwise I would've held onto it the best I could. Since you do PS/2 stuff, do you have any tips or advice on running LCD monitors from these machines? I have a Model 60 (big tower) that I tried to start, but I get a display error. I have no CRT monitor, and am getting a long beep and two short beep error. Trying to figure out if it's the LCD not displaying, or the port on the motherboard is bad.

This is what I am using for 8bit and 16bit game consoles. Not sure how it compares to other Trinitrons but I have a larger JVC that is almost as good and a PVM that is better it is is getting very old. I have wanted a larger Trinitron but they seem to be absurdly heavy.

I got one in orange with like 512mb ram but it can go up to 1gb it has 400mhz but i mostly only find those boring gray colors or like blue with 350 mhz but i got one in orange but i got a new battery for the clock and also 2 things that i find hard the power connector on the hdd is soo hard to pull out and when you said idk what this slot is it‘s probably a network expansion slot and yes you can put an airport card in there you need the card and a adapter an antenna should be already in and there are modern games like Minecraft running (classi cube) and with interweb ppc (browser) you can even access the internet

@@urzamasterHave 2001 Indigo IMac with 500Mhz G3. That expansion slot by the Ram is for the additional Airport 1 gen card for WiFi. Granted the WiFi is 802.11b and encryption limited to wep or Wpa1 without aes.

Its cleaned up pretty nice, but I think it needs a little more troubleshooting. I think the analog board probably has an issue.

That is a very old laptop, doubt it's worth worrying about. If you drop the hard drive out of the case it is in, it should be SATA connector. You need to take the keyboard out, there are screws under there. Yeah, it's junk but pulling it apart still could be fun. You should find a little bezel strip above the keyboard or there will be little notches to place a flat head screw drive to pop the keyboard and there is about 6 odd screws there. They were always a real pain to tear down due to the keyboard covering the screws real east to damage the keyboard the first few times stripping one down.

Thanks for the tip!! Yeah, it was toast toast. Surprisingly, it's an IDE hard drive, which looks like it'll still spin up, but it's a mini IDE connector, almost like a floppy connector. Very strange!

I had one of those. First machine I ever installed Linux on. I maxed it to a 486 DX4/100, 20 MB of RAM. Kick ass machine to learn on. Mine had the bezel with a curved portion on the left, but this is unquestionably the same machine. PB400 motherboard, I think. I took it down to Mammoth Cave expedition and people were blown away by it (pre Pentium days).
