Figured I'd try it out, it would be good by itself, but in tandem with the front plow, it's less helpful, since the lift mechanism for the front and rear is the same.

thank you for doing this video! I'm in process of restoring a cub cadet 1641 with a similar (identical?) vanguard engine and I'm now adjusting the valves. On the other side of the engine, are the exhaust and intake values in the same order as on the side in the video? (exhaust / intake)? Or reversed?

Exhaust will be the valve nearest the muffler/exhaust. Intake is the one closer to the carburetor/intake.

This is very similar to an outboard motor F-N-R shift assembly. Except that in this case you don't get the slippage of water to help act as a clutch. Stopping makes perfect sense. People can break anything.

Ok brain pick time!! So I have a 3000 series. Not sure of year. Everything works as it should however when I push the petal to move it jerks vary harsh. I did find I had a leak come from the rear end and the hydro oil was milky bad. If I change the hydro fluid and filter and fix the leak will that fix the problem of it jerking badly or is something else making it jerk hard when moving?

@SolunaGarage Great! Sometimes it kills the engine when engaging the PTO, and a backfire out the exhaust when turning off. I rev it up then key off at idle quickly!
@SolunaGarage
@SolunaGarage Ай бұрын
I noticed the single cylinder Commands like to really be warmed up before engaging the PTO. My 2166 is exactly the same way. As for the backfire, a good 60 seconds of cool down at idle and then the throttle up before shutting off has always worked for me. It does need to be a full 60 seconds or more though. The muffler design on the 2000 Series is extremely susceptible to the backfire due to raw fuel self-igniting in the chamber.

@iowafox2206

@SolunaGarage I agree the older machines are better and actually have a soal to them. These newer units being made aren't ment to last more then 10 years. The 316K I have I paid $400 a year ago non running less then 3 hours had it running and it's never stopped since yeah it uses a bit of oil but I'm keeping this machine for a long time. The Case was actually my first ever build. It started as a scrapped out unit. Needed a engine I put a 13hp Predator 420cc Hemi in it and use it as much as I can yeah its the roughest looking one I've got but I love it. The kabota is 2000s model but I paid $150 for it with a few minor things wrong I just loved the idea of the 3 cylinder diesel in a mower with power steering. It runs super smooth and I might end up sticking the engine into a 300s series JD to build by dream machine if I don't sell it.

Thanks for the video. I know that this video is 4 years old, but thought maybye you may see it sometime. Here is my question, how do the front wheels steer when there is no hydraulic pressure , and no mechanical linkage. I have a 1872 and i can turn wheels also when its not running with no mechanical linkage . I mean where does the pressure come from to turn wheels ? NOTE-- I do have to lift front off the floor to be able to steer wheels. Thanks
@SolunaGarage
@SolunaGarage 2 ай бұрын
Good question. The hydraulic control valve for the steering is an orbital valve. It will create some flow, with virtually no pressure when you rotate the valve via turning the steering wheel. This will transfer whatever fluid is in the lines and valve out to the cylinder. As you noted, it is very weak without any input flow/pressure from the pump.

Ive noticed some command 18 engines have the fuel pump built into the valve cover and some dont. Does it just depend on the model of mower theyre on?
@SolunaGarage
@SolunaGarage 2 ай бұрын
Yeah, it depends on the spec number of the engine, and what the machine manufacturer requested from Kohler. Some have the valve cover pump, others have a crankcase pulse pump, others have no fuel pump at all.

I think i have a good question for you. I have a dixon zeroturn with a cv16 high output. Sticker says its a cv15 tho. Anyways. Its always been a bit of a hard start but always started. Recently i was running it and it died. Had spark, and fuel. No compression. I did a head gasket, also had to use some timeserts. First start it kept flooding. Had to remove spark plug to clear cylinder two times. Third time i discontinued the fuel line and i got it to start. Connected fuel line and it was good, mowed the yard. It would start back up hot with choke on . Next day i go to start it up and nothing. Some poping but flooded before it could amount to any speed to get going. Same as first startup. I asumed it was the spark advance module. I did go for the cheapo 30 dollar ignition control module. Do you think my problem is its not the kohler version? Or do you know of something else that would cause this? I did clean lifters during rebuild so valves wouldnt stay open also checked flywheel key. Is good. Should i just get the kohler brand? Thanks in advance ç
