Absolutely! I used to believe that following an outline took the joy out of writing because it took away the surprise of fun ideas coming to me during the writing stage. However, without an outline, I often wrote myself into a corner, and could never see a way out. This led to lots of abandoned manuscripts. Now, I just write a couple of sentences for each chapter or scene so that doesn't happen anymore, but the outline is not so detailed as to take away the enjoyment of writing the story. I think with outlines as with writing in general, you just have to find what works for you. There's no one size fits all. Thanks for commenting!

Absolutely! Reading and watching television are some of the best ways to learn how to write better dialogue. Not everyone will agree with me, but I don't think you can be a writer without being a reader.

Absolutely! And on the opposite end of the scale, you could write in a dark, ominous style to build tension and intrigue if you are writing dark romance or romantic suspense for example. The writing itself is definitely an important aspect to make the plot of your novel seem more realistic and for your characters to come alive.
