Season 2 is not filler it's all in the manga. The manga is episodic. The only real filler are the scenes with the twins characters black & white who are anime only characters so Season 1 had more filler than Season 2

Thats good to know thank you! Also kinda disappointing to hear that the Twins were the filler. We will probably need to revisit it with that in mind. If we missed anything esle or got anything else wrong let us know!

This anime cannot stay dead, quite fitting given its narrative! 12 years on its still continually rediscovered by old and new and remains a genuine favourite of many, including myself, regardless of all the outlandish raunchiness.

And rightly so! Jack knows a few people that are not fans of anime but love High School Of The Dead. It is sad to know that they creator passed before they could complete the story and we would rather it stay incomplete rather then someone come in and ruin the story.

Good review, you're totally right - it's so much better when you know the source material. I've read the novels and the manga and I already loved the characters when I started to watch the anime. But still I find the 4/10 rating a bit too harsh. I honestly agree with many of your criticisms but it's still my favourite Anime. The direction is good, the characters are likeable, the music is GREAT (the only anime soundtrack I actually bought on CD) and I think that the ending (even though not the end of the novels) was handled very very well. Also I find Unkai to be one of the best villains ever. His backstory and reltion to Yakumo is even more disturbing when you read the novels. The anime comes across as a bit generic but I still love it 😁

That's great to know. I think that is one of the biggest draw back from just knowing the show rather then the show and source material. It gives you a deeper and better understanding and appreciation for the show and you have made me want to read it just on your comment alone. We are curious what rating would you give it, given that you know the full story?
