I am so happy I avoided this song at all costs and was able to witness this first hand without any spoilers. (I've spoiled myself quite a bit with this game) But I kept the date & the song blind, and I didn't expect to cry, I really didn't. But I cried from her first hello to their goodbye. Dating her, loving her, getting the intimate version of their date, knowing what's to come, knowing this is all so limited. My heart is shattered and I haven't even gotten to that part of the game yet. And it what world, in *what world* after seeing that play, the plot of the play, and the lyrics of the song that Aerith wrote her self, is this not canon? The argument always baffled me, but after seeing & hearing that song, I was floored at how much people want to ignore what is clearly right in front of them. I love them, I love her, and I am about to be torn to shreds for a fictional character who isn't real lol, in a few chapters... Please save her in game 3.... ❤ 💔 (Also, seeing Jesse, Bigs and Wedge.... PHEW tears were FLOWING)

That's really neat. So each new DLC character gives us their appearance on the main menu screen? I like that. Really cool. I thought it was gonna be each Season Pass it would be one character from it until the next pass.

Honestly the stages are so boring. They just remaked some stages and created stages that I have seen in thousand other fighting games. My ideas: A Dance club A Chinese restaurant where you can punch the opponents threw tables A underground train station A spooky graveyard A Supermarket I mean why Namco doesn’t have those ideas

For people who still doesn't watch the song writer interview, Aerith song NO PROMISES TO KEEP wasn't about Cloud. But about all the person Aerith loved and knows, At the "TILL THE DAY THAT WE MEET AGAIN" was referring to Zack at the end of Advent Children part where he's waiting for Aerith. Also the cobblestone part doesn't involves Cloud only but also her stepmother that she met while she run after her real mother death. Yet if you're hearing to the full song she Also mentioned Tifa, Barret, Yuffie and Vincent. Also many people thinking this song reply to Cloud [HOLLOW] but actually it isn't, and also if you had watched the interview or happened to has FF7 book, it was explained that Cloud [HOLLOW] was an honor song for ZACK FAIR death.

@@Hikari-Hidayat-CH Marlene's says Aerith loved Cloud but Cloud doesn't, Even at the advent children Marlene's draw Cloud with Tifa cause she knew Cloud like Tifa. Also Zack deserves better women for him, he was too kind for someone like Aerith. At first i shock knowing they write Aerith as "LOVE TO DEEPENED[BEING THE THIRD PERSON] THE TRIANGLE BETWEEN CLOUD AND TIFA". I'm so disappointed by that, that's why when i played rebirth it doesn't gave the happy energy i used to had anymore.

Did you not hear the first verse? "Walking city streets with worn cobblestones, listening to people rushing past to rythems all their own, life passing me by, not thinking how the years have flown...UNTIL I MET YOU" It's literally about Cloud meeting Aerith on Loveless street, which has..you guessed it cobblestone streets. The game can't make it any clearer that its always about Cloud and Aerith but keep you shippers want to keep denying it all.

Considering this song is how Aerith feels towards Cloud and how she wants him to "Take my hand and never let me go", the ending of Rebirth is even more heart breaking knowing she died being held in Cloud's hands

In reality, Aerith has strong feelings for her boyfriend Zack. Furthermore, she had felt Zack’s hand while her hand is in the mako filled lifestream. Thus, the song title isn’t about Cloud and Aerith… the song title is about Aerith and her mother Ilfana… her foster mother Elmyra, her boyfriend Zack and her comrades Barret, Vincent, Cid, Yuffie, her roommate (girlfriend) Tifa and Tifa’s boyfriend Cloud, and especially the planet they all live in.

For people saying the song was confirmed to not be for Cloud: Nojima said it wasn't SOLELY about Cloud, there are elements of the song that can be generalized towards other characters. Aerith has a lot of people in her life that she really cares about which makes sense. There are also elements that are about the hardships of her life and the burden of being a Cetra. Just because the entirety of the song isn't SOLELY about him, doesn't mean there aren't parts geared towards Cloud. Nojima himself in his response said "There's nothing wrong with a love song, of course... and the lyrics do have elements of that- like meeting someone, them changing your world..." Nojima does not deny that the song has romantic elements. The song is deep and impactful and talks about a lot of different things... Lauren (the incredible woman that sang the song), multiple times, has discussed learning about the relationship between Cloud and Aerith in order to properly understand the emotion behind the song she's singing. She's said that in 2 seperate interviews with Uematsu, one of which came out after the Nojima interview clip, with Uematsu supporting the idea of the song being a love song. Details of the song performance in the game support the idea that part of the songs message is about Aerith's feelings for Cloud. 1.) "Until I met you..." Aerith looks over at Cloud every time regardless of the route. 2.) "Our place" The only person Aerith talks to very specifically about having a place with is Cloud, referring to the church. The lyrics about taking someone's hand and being together directly mirror the lyrics of "Hollow" which is from Cloud's perspective. I could go on. I don't think Nojima's answer takes away from Aerith's feelings for Cloud or the meaning of the song. I think it deepens the song to be about more which is valid, Aerith is more than just a love interest.

"Our place/spot" was a localisation thing, doesn't exist in the game, or the original Japanese lyrics Nojima wrote. Uematsu and Loren can have their own interpretation of the music. However, at the end of the day, Nojima is the one writing the game, and these are his characters. He already explained who the song is for and what the 'promise' is, so ultimately, how he sees his own words will be what's reflected in the story he's writing.

Please 😂 The rebirth ultimania just came out and he said the exact thing again, so what? Did shippers travel back in time to complain? Loool The word 'street' can be translated as 'city' in the original Japanese lyrics Nojima wrote, plus she also met Elmyra on the street, one of the people confirmed the song is also for.

@jinnimoo Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in Japanese when talking about finding the church, Cloud says "The place I have memories of, it was easy." Something along those lines. I interpret that as he associates the church with memories of Aerith and Aerith does the same for Cloud. I still think that's pretty impactful either way!! The reason I quoted Nojima as one of the key points as well is because of what you mentioned. This is his game and he wrote the lyrics, and he says so himself that parts of the song do hold a romantic weight to them.

@jinnimoo I would think that Nojima would have some sort of say in confirming the English translation fits his ideas, too, wouldn't he? Especially with the English translation being the version of the song that is in the game, I would think that the translation would be something Nojima and Uematsu (or just Nojima as he wrote the lyrics) would approve of as it is their creative vision and their work. Again, I could be wrong, idk the first thing about game and song production so it's just a guess. Regardless, I think the song can easily be about everyone and still have certain aspects that are geared towards Cloud, which is how I interpret it.
