@iceclimberGD That's why you couldn't hear the sound of those machines, if they had thrown those machines it wouldn't have been difficult to throw the EMD 🤔

this happens because the railway system is very old and needs to be renewed

Is it the wises thing to get this train going at all? I mean, apparently it needs at least one or two more of those locomotives to be somewhat acceptably powered.

Trains got plenty of power. they were just stuck on an incline

Do those sand nozzles touch the rails and grind against them when the train is moving, or are they lifted up after a certain speed?

@@TheRealAmericanRailfan If you have discord, mine is iceclimbergd. I'm working on a feature right now for people to submit their own spots, so when I finish that it'll be a lot easier for new stuff to get added. As for the site itself, it's pretty hard to make one... Took me over a year because I did it completely from scratch.

Wheel slip control factors in a “ Lean into the load approach “ which works well and protects the drawgear . That load was most likely on a slight incline as the locos rolled back a little before traction came on. The Driver in this instance did a great job lifting that load off the mark.

I see some evidence in your footage of sidings or double track sites. This line will eventually see concrete ties, and welded rail from Sand Point to Laurel.
@consanna10 ай бұрын
Great footage but wrong credit it never was MRL’s Mullan Tunnel. Originally built by the Northern Pacific. The second transcontinental route to the Pacific. It was then part of the Burlington Northern. BN leased the portion of the line from Huntley, MT to Sand Point,ID to MRL. They never owned the line, or the tunnel. They were paid by BNSf 2 Billon to end the lease early. There was no merger. Employees were offered jobs with BNSF

With distributed power with a locomotive at the back it would seem the rear unit could put on the locomotive brakes and the front units back up to make slack even on a significant upgrade. Then the lead units starts and not exceed 5 mph until all the cars have started so as to not to break couplers with the trailing unit releasing brakes and adding power as the slack is taken up reaching it. It seems that even without being able to control the rear of the train with another locomotive the engineer might have tried backing up for making slack in 10 cars before much of the whole train starts to roll backwards, then started forward to get the momentum of 10 cars working before having to have to start the rest of the train. As he is backing up he can be laying down sand.
