Seems like somebody would finally invent the rules association. Even the Blue Angles have since enough to not go head-on, and they're three quarters crazy.

@@SeanFChannel Hi! Can you tell how does Twin Shark compare to Arcus? Thanks.
@SeanFChannel
@SeanFChannel 5 ай бұрын
@@fifi23o5 Fit and finish was excellent, flying qualities were excellent, felt lighter on the stick to me than the arcusM. Performance, that will be interesting. I have no idea. On paper it's equal, or better but paper estimations of performance are hard to trust in recent years. I suspect it is going to be strong, and am flying this very sailplane in the US 20m Nationals this March 2024. I'll know more about its performance than with personal experience. If I was buying a 20m two place motor glider on pure performance for competition terms tomorrow the twin shark would be a contender. It did very well in the recent world championships, and there was only one TShark, vs many Arcus and ASG32's... So there is some evidence that it is a competitive glider. I suspect it will be very competitive. But the thing about these classes is that the range of performance is usually well within the variance of the pilot skill, meaning the best pilot is going to win in whatever glider he/she chooses to fly! Sorry I know that's a meek, political answer. lol

@@SeanFChannel Thanks! When speaking of performance, especially with comparison among Arcus, Twin Shark, Asg32, which are so similar on paper, even the German handicap lists as pretty much the same, it comes to the personal preference, feel and trust. Besides, there can be differences in different conditions. Flying quality and the ease of control is a very important factor. First comparison that comes in mind is fom distant past, when I started to fly. Sirrus STD (a different kind of STD) and DG-100. Performance wise they were pretty evenly matched, but the ease of flying made it more enjoyable to fly and could fly better and faster, especially in turbolent conditions. It's also a matter of trust, when you trust your plane, you can fly it better. Thanks for your input! I wish you lots of pleasure flying your bird!

I can't find anything on the flying qualities of the JS1 .How is it compared to other 18 meter gliders as far as handling qualities ? Also in 21m configuration
@schnitzel2425
@schnitzel2425 Жыл бұрын
Even in open class, these JS3 gliders are insane, especially with the weather this year in Germany. Probably not as much compared to the newer open class gliders, but the older ones... Nimbus 4 & ASW22 were in trouble with the weather we have had. Very impressive.

And now the americans are learning the same lesson, this is NOT sailing, this is flying, one small mistake can be a disaster and end your chances, if you cant stay up on your foils there is no race, they just drift.
@Cerce7
@Cerce7 3 жыл бұрын
first I think u need to calm down a bit and second i totally prefer monohull to mutihulls. The performance are not everything and these boats are new and extreme (becuse american's cup always look for the extreme) and like everything that is new they need time to stabilize the project. -You sad that these are trimarans...ermmm WAT -yes they work well only between 10-20 knots but i think this inreliability is making the races more fun to watch but anyway with time they will become more stable also in less wind -we saw these boats towed up on their foils only when they capsizel or during testing a few month ago and anyway is not even a problem fossil fluel, wtf if u wanna talk about fossil fluel look at the transportation of these boats from Italy or US to NZ. I think they dont show that because nobody cares, simply as that. Nobody is hiding anything here wtf. - in the end YES these boat are unpractical like every other boat from amercan's cup, these boats like in the past are prototypes and so crashing is normal, these boat like in the past are not meant to sail in the "real" sea but in controllled condition only. They actually prove that is possible to foil a big monohull anyway something that noone befoure did. So hat off to them
@joemorris8423
@joemorris8423 3 жыл бұрын
I guess they could be classified as trimarans, but I would have to say that they are not very good trimarans since the outer "hull" is the wing and due to the very short long-axis length of the wing, there is little pitch stability. Even the AC catamarans were on three points ( after raising the windward foil ), but because of having both a windward and leeward rudder, when they were on just two points, those points were aligned with the long axis of travel and the distance between them allowed for some control of pitch. The AC catamarans did have problems if the leeward rudder foil stopped functioning properly. The fact that the single rudder of the AC foiling monohull is not aligned with the forward foil makes for geometry that leads to unusual changes in the angle of attack of both the foils and the sails. After watching the capsize a few times, I am not sure whether or not the port foil arm mounts failed due to the forces, and deformed the hull and thus caused the hole. Carbon fiber is light and strong, but does not bend well, but rather cracks, breaks, and delaminates. I also wonder if things would have been more stable with the rudder in the front and the foils near the back end, like an ice boat. Of course ice boats capsize too.

I appreciate that! But I stand by my analysis. These boats are desperation from the traditional monohull crowd. They are failures. The curtains are up, the lights are on and they are NOT PERFORMING.

Why does the factory have comments turned off? Maybe because they have turbine engines delivered that don’t run properly. Please JS fix your engines and stop ripping off your clients. Then you can turn your comments back on. What the hell is wrong with you?
@SeanFChannel
@SeanFChannel 3 жыл бұрын
Bill, I'm just a pilot, not associated with the factory manufacturer. I am a fan of the JS gliders in general. Their design and relative performance is extremely impressive. That said, I fully agree that the reliability of the turbine is less than perfect. Same is true of all glider powerplants. To what extent is debatable. Hence I do not yet own a motor or sustained glider yet. I'm still waiting to see how the AS33 performs this summer in competition. For now my pure ASG29 tics all the boxes. The Euro/Dollar exchange rate is very poor now 😔 and is going to get much worse under the fraudulently elected (Quid Pro Quo, China's bought sock 🧦 puppet, Hunter Cocaine is a helluva drug 💉) Biden Crime Family (print, print, print dat debt 📈 💵, raise dem taxes)!

I'm guessing that occasional tone we can hear in the background is some sort of vario telemetry coming from the glider? I'd love to see a video that shows and discusses that system. I've always wondered how R/C glider pilots could tell if they were rising or sinking.
