Aye Davie, it soon comes around! I had a week off last week to get some late season sport. Enchanting wee pools on that burn, and a couple of wildies too. @DaviekFlyFishing just waiting to see what happens with the thunder storms we're SUPPOSED to get. Our rivers could do with a bit of a lift. I did pop out to the little moorland stream yesterday and bagged some footage to put out over Christmas (oh God, I just mentioned the C word)!! At least it will give me a bit of editing to do whilst I'm trapped in with the family🤣

@DaviekFlyFishing no, but I'm thinking about it, I'm told they're tougher than carbon fibre if you take a tumble. They also have a nice "through" action, which apparently leads to fewer hook pulls. Maybe next season?

Giving you a shout there Chris, there was nothing left of that fly by the end of the evening! The River Leven had a horrible tinge last summer for a few weeks too, maybe is Algae from the Loch, people are still catching but I'll wait until it clears, just not pleasing to the eye. Hope to have some different small stream outings soon, you seemed to have your mojo back last time

@@DaviekFlyFishing if you are looking to fish at the Dunning bridge. Best Monday to Thursday. Once it gets to Friday, the wild campers move in. Not worth attempting to fish. Place is a right mess on the Monday morning. It was up at the bridge on Wednesday night. Good rise of fish at dusk. Upper part is well worth a try. Was this bit you tried. Just up from the fish farm?? Looked to give that a blast next time out

Cheers Dave, I do fish mostly wets until things liven up. North Country, Yorkshire and Clyde Style Spiders- sparse, things of beauty! I'll be giving it a go with 2 flies for the first time this week. My dad says all you need on the River is a wee Black Spider!!

Hi Chris, I thought I would leave in some footage of getting snagged in those creeping trees, I lost 2 flies in the first five minutes and that's with the vegetation not existent. The local River is sky high, thankfully the wee tributary is ok. All the best when you get out on the water.

flies were lost in the trees, I don't lose much in the actual water, never tried nymphing and very unlikely to. I was using my 4 weight but the wind had died down by the time I hit the water. Cheers for the comments

Some great fish caught. I swap between indicator single nymph at start of the river season. As fish still deep in the river. Then switch the guideline rod onto serious light dry fly rig. Your help and advice pointed me towards the Guideline lps set up. Great that it does both nymph and dry fly on one rod.

Nice one, Davie! Bonny little burn there! Very similar to my own wee stream down here. Also, those trout look like ours, even the bigger mature fish retain the parr markings. Something to do with the woodland environment?? Good result for this stage of the season with cold, heavy water! 👍

Dave, the only two bites resulted in Trout, Ill have to pay more attention to how the fish look! I tend to get too excited to notice, but the red spots really stick out, the smaller one was quite golden, happy days.

Similar in my neck of the woods, ive got new pools and piles of shingle in place the old pools ! All to be learnt again! Very cold today, but river dropping, i may get out tomorrow!
