Why is the force on gudgeon pin equal to force in connecting road? In horizontal configuration engine, the force on gudgeon pin is equal to the net effective force along the line of stroke (Fp), whereas in vertical engine, we are taking it as force in connecting rod. Why is it so?

Also, if we are assuming the reciprocating part in equilibrium( adding the inertia force), then why will there be a net force? Will it not be 0?

@@GAGANBANSAL Please refer to Example 15.9 and 15.11 in RS Khurmi (Theory of Machines). In 15.9, the engine configuration is horizontal and the load on gudgeon pin is taken as equal to net effective force on piston. In 15.11, the engine is vertical and here the load on gudgeon pin is taken as equal to force in connecting rod. Why?
