Lot of gaps in the lecture...fr = fi, so the forces got cancelled...then how fbh agian is equal to fr?. What will happen if the crank crosses 180 deg . That is direction of all theses forces are reversed...the forces marked for recoprocating compressor(piston is driven by motor torque) or reciprocating engine(piston is driven by gas force)?..

Sir For this question what do we cos or sin The length of the fixed link of a crank and slotted lever mechanism is 275 mm and that of the crank 110 mm. Determine, (i) the inclination of the slotted lever with the vertical in the extreme position. (ii) the ratio of the time of cutting stroke to the time of return stroke and (iii) the length of the stroke, if the length of the slotted lever is 495 mm and the line of stroke passes through the extreme positions of the free end of the lever

Why is the force on gudgeon pin equal to force in connecting road? In horizontal configuration engine, the force on gudgeon pin is equal to the net effective force along the line of stroke (Fp), whereas in vertical engine, we are taking it as force in connecting rod. Why is it so?

In 15.9, the engine configuration is horizontal and the load on gudgeon pin is taken as equal to net effective force on piston. In 15.11, the engine is vertical and here the load on gudgeon pin is taken as equal to force in connecting rod. Why?
