Running 82 nd age at pre sent loving trains right from 1954 having friend ship with morethan 1000 Railway Staff 40 per cent of which were and are Lo co Staff I have to say here that one Mr GS Vasu seni or Loco Pilot friend who pi loted the 3 Inagulars of South Western Railways Namely Mysore Udaipur Palace Queen Humsafur Express and the 2 vande Bhaarats Running on Mysore Chennai Central Travelled in all the Gauges with pullers of Coal Diesel and Electric and one of the Office bearers of My sore Division Railway User s Consultative Committee A commuter of 3 local giants namely Southern Eastern and Central resi dent of Daadar for some months 7 of my families were loco pilots I Coal Engine Era and all since deceased Only today I viewed your 45 th video only today 6 8 24 I am ve ry lucky to have travelled in India's fastest Coal Engined pulled passeng er train with a speed of 250 kms per hour for 3 full years Don't Lough and get yourself wondered and surprised Go throu gh my further comments From 1967 to the latter ha lf of 1970 after joining as a junior Auditor I used to commute between Myso re and Chamaraajanagar of the then Southern Rail way and our train used to roll out Mysore everyday around 6 30 in the morn ing with 5 wooden bogies pulled by YL type Coal en gine No other strong engi nes be attached to this train The train reaches a middle station called Nan jangid and reaches aroun d 7 25 or 7 30 the distan ce being 25 kms one can easily guess the speed of the train After 5 to 10 mi nites the train the Gatima nn Express of our Coal En gine Era starts from Nan jangid at 7 35 or 7 40 and reaches Chamarajanagar around 9 20 9 25 or even 9 30 some days a distan ce of 35 kms One can ea sily guess the speed of our Gatimann Express Further wonders of this train 13 official halts en route one crossing eith er at Nanjangud or at Nara saambudi 90 percent in Narasaambudi the weight of the rails laid upto Nan jangid was 60 pounds and 45 pounds beyond Nanjangud as per the info rmation heard unofficiaal ly sincvr we knew nothing about this Arrival and De partire of our train beyond Nanjangud were as per the whims and fancy of the Station Masters and Booking Clerks enroutr 95 percent departure of two trains at Narasaam budi station iminent beca use unless the ticketless traveller Milk Vendor Paar vatamma gives milk free of cost to some 6 to 10 railway staff daily Now the loopline and the Main line were dismantled and only one single line laid in Narasaambudi and Kava lande Stations made as a halting halting one after Guage Conversion There is no Crossing facilities for the entire stretch of 36 kms from Nanjangud and Chamaraajanagar More wonder among all the above is the thinking of some headless adminis trators in dismantling of this entire route on the grounds of feasibility of revenue as recommended by some unwanted head less administrators of Sou thern Railway who were the controllers of this line at that time They have decided to do away with this plan knowing fully well that the Railway Mi mister is from Karnataka By now the Rail Zone will understand the teedious ness of our Gatimann Express 9686359728
