Where do you get a rebuild kit for it

I’m no expert but I actually have seen a 92 Ford 555 that was on a trailer chained down and the driver didn’t know that he was over height and he hit an over pass and it looked pretty similar to yours the glass all blew right out and the boom was bent and I noticed that you boom lock pins are gone and if it was chained around the axle it would maybe have broken the axle and where the frame bolts together but it’s too bad nobody told the driver to take the boom out of transport. I just thought I would pass that on to you it may be a possible explanation 😀🇨🇦

I know this is an old post, but its the only one with a similar problem to mine. I have a 1978 Evinrude 140, and it runs ok in the tank. It idles real high, and wants to stall when I put it in gear in the lake. The timing light shows it's about 30 degrees advanced with the throttle closed. It is runnung CCW when looking down on it. Why are the slots for rope starting it designed to turn it the opposite way? I thought I had a sheared key too, but still need to remove the flywheel. Very weird.
@dapperdanp2485 Жыл бұрын
That is very strange. The main thing is to turn the starter and see which direction the flywheel is turning with the starter. The high idle sounds like an air leak or it's not getting enough fuel. Is your bulb getting hard when you pump it?
@wayne3340 Жыл бұрын
@dapperdanp2485 Ok I need to slap myself. It's running clockwise like it should, I was looking at the starter wrong. I made myself a puller and removed the flywheel, sure enough, key sheared off. It was running way advanced, like 30 degrees at idle. 2,300 rpm. I replaced the key and torqued the flywheel and now it runs so slow, about 500 rpm, it wants to stall. Time to adjust the cable I think.

This is what's wrong with my 1972 Ford 3000. Replaced fuel filter and I think it finished off the fuel pump. Had to replace the starter. Now its turning but wouldn't crank. Then checked fuel pump and realized fuel wasn't getting to injectors. Going to try to clean and fix it so I dont have to buy a 700-1200 dollar fuel pump.

cdi is made in america. putr together in america. my shops have used them for I think 30 years now. How many bad in all that time? zero. I mean NIB bad. How many factory bad? some years 3 out of every 7. For those chinese comments. You do know that many American companies build things there that are top quality right? They leave America becasue unions have wages so high they go bankrupt. Not sayin it is the right thing. Just a fact of life. and NO they are NOT doing slave labor in China either..

I am having the same problem with my 2 stroke Mercury 9.9 hp. Pull the starter rope and sometimes it yanks the handle out of your hand. When it does start, it will immediately kick and run backwards - no telltale. I checked no.1 with timing light and found this cylinder fires where it should. I checked no.2 and discovered this cylinder is advanced about 160 degrees too far. I examined the flywheel, magnets are okay and in the right place. Everything works for cylinder no.1 it should work the same for cylinder no.2. Right? Nothing seems to be adjustable - I'm stumped. Any ideas?
@randymiller16042 жыл бұрын
If you have the correct flywheel the only other thing is the power back or ignition module whatever you wanna call it it decides when to fire this work
@miked6022 жыл бұрын
@@randymiller1604 Thank you for your response. Your suggestion was correct. After I tested everything I could test, the only conclusion I could come up with was the Ignition Switch Box. Everything else was in good working order. The part I needed was "No Longer Available," so I had to take a chance on the recommended replacement part. A $70.00 step of faith. It worked beautifully runs good. Now I can see 9.9hp is far too small for my boat.
