I like Simple Green, which I used for this project, and Krud Kutter. I always wash with warm water and dawn dish soap before I start working on a piece. Thanks for asking!

Beautiful! I have two I’m painting right now… did you do anything to reinforce the bottom? Mine just have that thin particle board that you usually only see on the back.

I haven't replaced the bottoms, but I have added small nails to hold them in place. Replacing them is actually a great idea and I will try when I get another set. Thanks!

I actually loved the original handles, but these sleek simple ones are very popular with my customers. I saved the original ones for a future project :)

PS whoever got that big piece for a little under $600 got themselves a bargain that is a large heavy solid piece of furniture high-quality with lots of storage room I think in the New York metro area you would’ve gotten more like $1500 for it🎉

I love what you did with it and… I hope you save that vintage hardware it looks really unusual and I think on a different piece maybe something smaller and simpler that vintage hardware would totally look awesome would love to see you do something like that it sort of gives me that games of thrones vibe and I didn’t even watch the TV show although I am familiar with it lolyou for keeping something from going into our landfill and I hope that your hourly rate for the time you put in and what you got for this was at least $50 an hour❤

Thank you! I did save the hardware. I will find the perfect piece for it someday. I usually earn between $30-$50 an hour for my work. I love when I find furniture that someone is going to throw away and I am able to repair and restore so it has many more years of life! :)

I really enjoyed your technical information, your patient tone of voice. Seing a test strip of various glues was instructive. I was interested in your textured wall-paper idea of transforming the chest, rather than deciding to paint it. I think the chest surface would have been lovelier without the pattern of white paper, however well you glued it. The design of the chest was so beautiful on itw own that it didn't need any more decorative elements.

I do like that. So both still wet and work it. Yeah, TX everything dries like MOW..Stain brush/.rub on wope pff? Mot jappening..It dries before you wipe. 😂😢😢😢. I went to just painting ba ising any stain or gel..glaze works well but I like this chaulk vlemd thing..I may try it ln a tabletop that has to ne painted, too much damage. I have a black table top but thinking of a gray or off white blend.

make sure to get a misting water sprayer if you want to blend chalk paint. I bought mine in the plant section of Lowes.

Nice way to hide the damage can you still get to see the beautiful veneer. Great contrast in color. And you can't beat brass hardware. 👍
