I want all the private servers to work properly and actually feel like World of Warcraft. I also want all gold sellers, all gdkps, all boost sellers, and all multiboxers to be banned. World of Warcraft promised land. I will never give up hope for this paradise.

I hope that the solo queue feature will make more casual players queue. I enjoy pvp but it's rarely enjoyable on small servers because it's dominated by a handful of people running optimal comps with bis gear.

Great summary my man. Wish more of the pserver players would be aware, or care. But as you said, they just want to play the game 4 free and not get involved in "politics".
@Usmc511324 күн бұрын
You dont seem to understand how competition works 😅 people are trying to make money on their private servers and if their private server provides something another open source collab server or private server doesn't, then people stay and donate and or play free on their server. If everyone collaborated with open source then everyone would play on 1 single sever. It wouldn't make since to play on different servers which would in turn defeat the entire purpose of a private server. 😅 this isnt the world wide web its a video game...

what ppl forget is that we are living in capitalism. And the philosophy of open source is something I call "communist". When you do for money it will never be as great as something you do because you just like doing it. Before you judege me about me not knowing what "communism" did, I sugges you to go look at its meaning first. We are very deep in capitalism where profit and the wealth of individual is the norm. Something that is open source requires more than 1 individual. Many profit seeking private servers will do everything to increase the value of an individual. Look at the device you're using. If you say that capitalism is fair and good, you are saying that the ppl that mines our lithium and cobalt for 50 cents a day and the Corporation gets profit like never before, is fair. Would you like be in that position ?

The only reason I did not start playing via Chromie Server is the low population. I would say it's the best private server without pay to win and bugs. I decided just now to go to the Original Blizzard WoW and play War Within. Better to pay full price and play with full experience. No fear from full donated guys waiting behind the corner to one shot you.

Okay, what about Warmane private server? I've heard that ex Blizzard developers are working there. Anyone wonder why despite all "new" re-releases of WoW expansions of Blizzard, they still don't affect Warmane's population or why Blizzard don't sue them? I know this server since 2009. Literally 15 years later and it's still popular. Not all servers are equal.

I remember years and years ago I played a Maplestory private server and I donated $10 to it and they gave me gm status so I just scrolled a rolled up newspaper to 1000atk.

Really learned a lot here. I play official WoW currently, but have tried private servers in the past when I couldn't afford the subscription. Definitely interesting to see behind the scenes a bit.

3:39 Why you should only play if you have bought a copy of the expansion the server runs. Also why private servers should exist, to own the game have to rent the right to play it should not be protected by copyright. While the expansion is live, the monthly is for support and patches. Once the expansion is finalized and the next one comes out, this is where private servers should take over.

I'm trying to set up my private servers for a true solo-player experience. Hopefully I can find a setting somewhere that makes it so I can easily solo the raids and dungeons without having to turn on .gm mode.

It might have taken long than we wanted, however we had to tidy up a good number bugs (see our changelogs over the last few months with hundreds of issues resolved) and modernise a lot of our core scripts in Azerothcore before we kept on marching forward with our progression plans. This also has the return of our 'Mythic' mode for the raid (optional harder difficulty than the light tune we gave the normal mode of the raid) and guaranteed a much smoother experience than our previous releases! You are not prepared!

No open source license requires you to give up your content for free. What the GPL forces if that, if you DISTRIBUTE the software than includes the original code, you must include the complete source code. It doesn't say at any point to distribute it for free, or to distribute it at all. Aside from that, I do agree with you. It doesn't matter if you're forced or not, if your building on top of what others did, the right thing is to share back. Want some exclusivity? Fine, keep it for a while, but give back when the novelty effect runs out

You can play private classic servers only if you have never played retail WOW the past 10 years. The quality of life improvements in retail make private servers almost unplayable now. I've been playing on Chromiecraft for the past month or so, and they have done a great job of making it nearly bug-free.... but at the same time, there are just so many QoL issues that Blizzard has improved. You also forget how bad some of the questing was in early wow.
@AJ4X002 ай бұрын
If people wanted to play retail they would go retail, you think that pserver players are "missing out" the experience out of sheer ignorance, truth is, they know what they are supposedly "missing out" but they just don't care about it. Good for you if you enjoy retail, hope you stay there.

DO NOT GM for private servers unless you know for a fact that they pay their GMs. It's not worth the headache, it's not worth your time, it's pure volunteer work. I'd love to say "oh it's fun at least" but it's a 50/50 whether or not you have to deal with poor management from the admins or tolerate assholes back to back. Just a PSA from personal experience :>
@borislaw67682 ай бұрын
First, I wont pay Blizzard a penny for this bad content. I gave them chance for almost all expansions from cata to df and its a big dissapointment. Even now in DF there are too many things you have to do which dont depend on skill but on how many hours you spend in the game. No thanks. Thats why I play TBC and WOTLK in private servers which are the best of WOW. This is the same reason I play only Diablo 2 but not 3 and 4. I gave the chance and the result is the same. And please log in Warmane in Lordaeron and tell me what doesnt work. I dare you to find even one bug.

Hunger for money and greed. It starts as fun project, but "management" changes and in the end they are copy of big corpos. Yeah, I get it - servers need maintenance and other services + other expenses - but come on!

From 11 to 13 I was a GM in wowbeez, also when I made my lan private server to explore with my brothers. Those where times of wonder and discovery. This video brought back many of those feelings and 15 years later, I agree wholeheartedly with the argument, as my child would have then, tinkering with the tools made by an open and creative community! :) Thank you for the video
