This is sad. He had died from excessive cutting, harsh training, and injuries from the match. I want to become a professional boxer and this scene is almost enough to scare me out of it. But i'll stay strong and see how boxing turns out for me. Ashita No Joe was a great anime.

This is the reason i prefer to watch old gems like this one truly sheer passion but i think he had to be world Champion for his all hardwork, but this anime's endings were always opposite what in your mind anyway, what an masterpiece

While I do believe Joe Died because I believe that was the purpose of this fight for Joe to “turn to ash”. The artist and writer have said conflicting things over the years. The artist said no he isn’t dead and the writer said that he is. Just so people know an artist of a manga holds the same weight as the writer most of the time since help to write the actual scenes and dialogue. But I firmly believe if Joe didn’t die right there he probably would’ve died soon anyway. Also in the manga it is left up to interpretation.

I want to believe Joe closing his eyes meant he died not knowing if he had lost or won. He won the battle with existence. He is an immortal symbol of the human spirit and my singular reason for wanting to survive. Joe is the man against the world. He’s so fucking deep

If you have seen the whole anime than this scene makes perfect sense. And it sucks in a way that it has gained popularity recently by short videos with catchy songs just showing the ending.. but I guess it brings out a certain non context meaning to it. so you get a short lived/long lasting effect.. but THIS.. after the journey you go through, this.. "season 2".. (since people only mention the name and not that it is 2..) this is the fruits of many emotional times spent together and you cannot get that easily, and definitely not by a 3 minute video.. so watch it if you haven't and for those whom have..... :) ... I watched this anime as a kid more than 20 years ago, but this is the first time I watch the final scene. Our national TV didn't air it to spare us the trauma I guess.

Just finished watching tomorrow’s Joe 2 season 1-2 on amazon prime. But season 2 last episode didn’t finish the story of his fight with Kim. Anyone know of a season 3 of tomorrow’s Joe 2? Really enjoyed this and want to see more
