My high school band director was big on bringing in great musicians for us to learn from. Count Basie. Maynard Ferguson. And one year he brought in Nick Lane for our summer band camp. We performed this song from the original handwritten (with pencil!) score. I was so excited that on the bus ride home, I got to sit in the seat next to Nick. He shared such great stories with us. Good times. Wonderful memories.
