I get a lot of stuff from Orbit, especially imports. They’ve always given me great customer service, and their shipping and packaging is great. They also reach out to you if there’s an issue with your order and they try to rectify it really fast. I’m willing to even pay extra for a title through them to show support. Also it’s nice to see there’s a good store on the west coast. We’re moving back to CA from NC this year and so I’ll be probably looking into it.

I think you mentioned the movie room recently somewhere or maybe I saw it online. I was looking for inglorious basterds and they had it so I got it and blazing saddles limited edition. Shipping was super fast. I also order from orbitdvd, grindhouse video. I never ordered from atomic but I hear great things.

Hi Frank! Did u try to hit the Top Menu button multiple times, like in many times? Hitting 'Top Menu' on my UB820 once or twice didn't work here (with a specific bluray disk). I needed to hit 'Top Menu' repeatingly, then it would bypass the region lock. Maybe that will work for the "difficult" ones?

I'm sorry you still ended up with a corner ding. I was worried about mine, ordered directly from Australia to Kansas but thankfully no damage at all. I absolutely love my set. Seeing the German version (in 4K) for the first time was awesome, now my favorite version and the best looking in my opinion. The picture quality is absolutely perfect. As I understand, this 4K version was released earlier in Germany and the US/International version was done by Imprint themselves. After watching the German disc first, the international/US version looks a tiny bit soft to me, maybe they added some noise reduction, but still looks amazing. Also the theme song sounds really bad, they boosted the treble like crazy and there's very little bass, another reason to just stick with the German version. The quality of the extra printed stuff is very nice though admittedly I could have lived without it, I wasn't going to wait for a more standard version which may or may not come. 😀 Oh and the documentary was incredibly good.

Every time I hit HDR settings when I have a 4k blu ray disc playing, I keep getting the message 'This function is valid only during HFR video output' I don't know why

If Arrow remastered this movie, they for sure would have advertised it as them doing the remastering. End of discussion. The only difference is encoding and packaging.

When that icon pops up i just press back on my tv remote and it goes away. It’s like a mini menu for the tv it won’t go away with the panasonic remote.

I was literally there like three days ago and they had jack shit for arrow video. They had a few decent options a week ago, but that’s about it. They are cleaned out at the moment.

If you haven’t had problems with other discs I would say there is something within that disc itself or it needs cleaned thoroughly. Check for updates. I have a ub820 and it works very well. When I have had any issues , I cleaned the disc off and the issue would go away. Do not get a Sony, there are settings you have to do manually to play Dolby vision which you don’t have to worry about on the Panasonic. I had a Sony X700 and I don’t think I got through 5 discs without it freezing or just plain stopping in the middle of the movie. I sent that thing back immediately. It is not worth buying a cheap player. My understanding is the more expensive players have better components and can read the discs better. Just my opinion though

Wow. The 820 is loud… I had one issue with my ub9000 (BR2049) would not play last night, same disc worked in my oppo-203. Looks like there was a smudge, after cleaning finally worked.

I know how to fix that issue. Go to settings and turn off vierra link. For the playback issue, go to settings and try turning off BD live

I had an Xbox series x and refused.to believe it was not reading 4k 3 layer 100 GB disks. But I finally broke down and bought the panasonic UB 450. All my 4k issues have gone away. It is quiet and responsive. I don't need Dolby vision because I am using a Samsung s90c. But it is there on the ub 450. All that said, I will be upset if it does not last.

In the player menu go to, setup, then to system, then TV settings and turn off VIERA Link. This will fix your issue.

I absolutely hate my UB420 player. It works, but there is NOTHING I like about it. It's slow to turn on, then you have to try 4 or 5 times and you think it's off when it was on and you just shut it off. Same thing when shutting it down. Worst player I have ever bought.

I haven’t had any playback issues and I bought mine in 2019. Only issue is with the new firmware it turns on all the time with my tv ( and I have no hdmi control on the tv or player) and once in a while when I press stop it will automatically play the disc again.

That is a setting on your tv not player.Also go to network settings on the 820 and disable bd lives.If it is on some discs will not read.

I have the same player, do you ever use your tv remote to control the player? If so, it can cause that to pop up and then be home unable to take off. That's my experience, so now I only use the DVD remote for all controls

All 4K players are flawed. Theirs issues with every one of them. Stick with Blu-ray

No problems with my Panasonic UB820 4K player. I bought it in 2019. Mine plays flawless like Beyonce.🥰

I only had an issue once with it not playing one of my criterion blu rays but it worked after doing the power reset like you talked about in this video. As for the disc not working - is this the only disc you’ve had a problem with? Do you have access to another 4k player like a Series X or PS5 that you can test it with? It could be just the disc. Also, deactivating BD Live and BD secondary audio might solve the pop up. I haven’t had the issue myself though.

No, thankfully I have had zero playback issues w/ my 820. I will have had it for 2yrs come April. I don’t know why someone was saying buy Sony that would be taking a step backwards in my view. Hopefully, you won’t run into any more issues. 👍🏻

I dont have a UB820. But i had bought a lower end panasonic 4k model in 2020 that had a similar issue. It stopped reading discs after like 12 months, but i had only used it a couple of times during that timeframe. Thankfully, it was just barely still under warranty, so they sent me a replacement. Havent had a problem since.
