REF 7:38 - Royal still allows smoking in the casino, although they have a small, smoke free casino on some ships. Virgin has the poker rooms too!

@MidRiseLiving Күн бұрын
thanks for the update. Yes, they had that on Allure last time we sailed on it. It was really small and didn't give us that vegas-like feeling. I read that RC was experimenting with making the entire casino smoke free, but haven't really kept up with how that went.

@@MidRiseLiving I would love to have that, or at a minimum, do like NCL does and have fully enclosed smoking rooms. Many of the Royal ships have a casino where the smoke just billows up into the promanade or into a neighboring dining room. At least it's not like Carnival where you have to walk thru them to get to other areas of the ship though.

I think a major reason for this is a lot of people are on the drinks package and they like to push the drinks package a lot so they water everything down because they’re trying to save money, but it just means that people are gonna order more drinks.

Thank God I have a drink package! I'm from Finland and for me it's typical to drink close to 15 to twenty portions of alcohol per day. In Finland one portion is 4 cl of strong alcohol or one bottle of beer. Since they are watering down drinks onboard, I can easily order up to fourty vodka tonics per day.

@@earthling1984 I don’t think the ships water down the source bottles just to be clear. For all inclusive excursions and some resorts, I’ve definitely had some watered down liquor from the bottle. Thanks for the video, I have done both, the Gym on Virgin is plenty for the daily Gym Gower since you also have the track on top with more equipment. Royal is way to crowded. One suggestion is to try a Cheaky Corner Suite as a Rockstar, you get almost 400sq ft of Terrace, and it was absolutely the best. We have done 20+ cruises and only go on Virgin if we can going forward.

From my experience Royal waters down drinks and their specialty drinks are much too sugary for us. I also drink martinis and, as you said, they really can’t water those down, lol. On our recent icon cruise my wife and I had the deluxe drink package. We ordered Skinny Mohito’s by the pool, martinis, Negronis and whisky on the rocks at the bars inside. I don’t think we’ll get the drink package again because I’ve found that I tend to overdo it just to make sure I can break even which is too much to be healthy. Next cruise we’ll probably bring 2 bottles of wine for the room and order a few drinks here and there. I’ve also heard that Royal has bottle and mixes for the room, such as a bottle of Gin and a bottle of tonic.

Great review. Watching this made my wife and I anxious to try Virgin. We’ve been on more than a few Royal Caribbean ships of all sizes, a few Oasis class ships and just got off Icon. I’m not into the big ships anymore. We will probably do more Royal but smaller ships only. We also enjoyed Holland America, Princess, Disney Carnival and NCL ships. So far Royal is our favorite. We’re almost Diamond which is a motivator to stick with them for those 4 free drinks each per day, LOL. Subbed to your channel.

Im a pinnacle with royal. I am over Royals diminution in quality so am exploring other cruise lines. I did take a virgin cruise and won’t do it again unless free. The debauchery was non stop and in your face. It got to be quite tedious. I don’t care what people get up to in their private life but when its shoved in your face relentlessly, you feel like you are being pressured to affirm what they get up to. I simply don’t care to know. My cruise was constant oppressive innuendo. I don’t care to interact with a stranger in this manner when it’s completely uninvited. I don’t care to not need to hear things like “i come pre lubed” hissed at me with a snear. Ffs, just let me enjoy myself

Just been on a 14 day cruise with Virgin and there was zero debauchery, didn't really even see any public displays of affection. I will say we were in our cabin by 10:30 p.m. because we get up early even on vacation. A couple of the shows are a little raunchy/racy but they always mention "we don't touch, you don't touch" and the costumes weren't really any more revealing than other cruise lines I've been on. Like Carnival, there may be passenger behavior issues with the shorter cruises.

@ we DID stay out past 1 AM and it was pretty tame for us. We’re accustomed to Vegas as mentioned in the video. Our cruise was a 5 night sailing and I agree with what you said. The shorter ones tend to bring the younger crowd, but then again everyone’s comfort zone is different.

What do you consider to be debauchery? I assume you're talking about 2 men kissing, how was it shoved in your face relentlessly? It's funny but when you see a man and woman kiss, do you think that is shoving it in your face? When you see people with kids, do you think, ugh I dont want to know what they get up to in the bedroom? Clearly Virgin Voyages isn't for you. They're all about inclusively and people being themselves, which was evident through their amazing relaxed Crew and passengers who are there to have fun and chill with other sailors, without judgement.

Nope nope nope. Its good for people that make more than 100k a year maybe even lower but there are still many of us who need more affordable housing. Too many of us. People complain about homelessness and their kids staying in longer, but where can they go? Into the 1 out of ten thousand gentrified neighborhood in a studio apartment that starts at 2k a month when they make close to minimum wage maybe even less? People complain about us being lazy, but where here working out ass off and we barely make it to pay for our car payments. We can stop raising minimum wage and drastically increase the amount of multiunit affordable housing. Japan has an over 10 million vacant housing spots across the country. This may be due to their declining birth rate, but we’re not that far off from them in the near future, but does it have t take millions to die off before we can be able start living. Fuck these corporate landlords that only build and remodel luxury apartments after luxury apartments. We have so much space to build so much more. Less town homes more 6-10 story apartments with 10 units on each floor. I want the skyline line to be lined with these fuckers. Fuck wealthy investors making millions off of the corroding middle class because God knows they’re getting fucked hard with these steep rent prices. Pay that 4,000 dollar luxury apartment all you want, but just know you don’t have to be paying that much. And the homeless don’t need to line the streets waiting to die along with the millions barely making ends meet that don’t have to worry about getting evicted out for the 50th time.
