Oh how I love the horn antler and the big drums and my people and the ancient days and ways of our old culture from the Germanic to the Scandinavian to the Celts! This is the true European tribes! This has been done for thousands of years from Stone Henge to the Norwegian to the Goths of Germany and so on! Living off the land and and waging wars and killing animas wearing animal their skins and and sailing the seas and so many other things is the real European tribes most people either don't remember, or just don't know about! ❄️🪶🐺🕸️🦉🍀🍄 ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ 🇧🇻🇩🇪🇸🇪🇦🇽🇮🇲🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇨🇮🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

12:33 In Maidjan. Marie solo n mix vocals. Thats what attracted me to my wife back in 1989. She left work walking down Noname Street, and I followed hearing her song, it matched so much of this. I gave a copy of this last week to her. She is in wonderment. Her response was cryptic. She liked it.

Shame they replaced the third guy (from the original first performance) with three women. That first performance has never been equalled. I think they have just been touring too much. Maria Franz is even out of tune at times during In Maidjan. We know she has a fantastic voice, my guess is they were all a bit tired. Christopher Juul just seems to be there in body only, not looking happy to be there. In Castle Fest during Allfatherhaitir the warriors looked like warriors, these look like actors. Red Rock came closest to that original performance, but the harmonic singing there was terrible, but it had the spirit, mainly due to the native American audience and participants, that brought that spirit. But it's nice to see that Kai has a bare breasted lady to hold his shield for him during Krigs Galdr. He seems to have replaced his dancing movement with a marching movement. I don't know, it all feels hollow, going through the motions, especally painfully obvious during Krigs Galdr. More half naked women though, so I guess that's a plus? You see it in the crowd's reaction, very passive, no joy. It feels like a concert now, not a ritual. Just compare this with the Castle Fest performance, I think you'll notice a difference, especially during Hammrer Hypyer, that was such an explosion of joy during Castle Fest and even Red Rock and here it was vapid. What's with the Maori stance at the end? Ah well, at least there were fire works. Maybe my expectations are simply unrealistically high and I get that not every performance can be on the same level, but to me it feels like a bit of the soul has disappeared, as if it is another band doing a, admittedly well studied, cover of Heilung. Maybe the gods had a day off that performance.

First off, Jonas Lorentzen (third male singer from Castlefest) left to start his own project called Nebala. His sister is one of the new singers. Secondly, this is their first performance post-Covid in 2021. Their rituals over the past few years are absolutely amazing! They will be releasing their performances from Red Rocks 2021 & London 2023 soon.

I agree with Jason. I think this is amazing, even if the audio isn't top notch on the recording, but I know it sounded much different in reality. Also they have members coming and going, they have lives too you know. It's not that they were "replaced" and they are all from different places. Sometimes they may not be able to go. And there's plenty of stuff out there where Maria and Kai and Chris talk about Heilung and the tours and songs. There's parts that they wing it and try different things and other parts that are the same. Maria also talks about one performance, not sure which, that she was sick and almost had no voice at all yet she still performed. They're always trying new things and alot of times they're auditioning for new warriors and such. Maybe the author of this comment should go be one since he feels like they sucked. Perhaps he can do better. I think this ritual looks amazing imo. I think they look pumped and really into it. I can't wait for red rocks 2024! Saw mission ballroom 2023 and I just know this is going to be even better! They'll be all rested up and feeling great. Heilung is amazing no matter what they're doing. ❤

I don't miss Jonas, I didn't like some parts of LIFA because of the yapping crowd and heavy breathing from Jonas, but still Jonas added a unique contribution to the live project but other supporting singers too have their time to shine. This ritual/concert topped LIFA in some parts for me, especially Hamrer Hippyer and Othan, it also has a good version of pro recorded Traust/Elddansurin before we get LIFA 2. They always change their choreography it seems, I am not a fan of too much change either, sometimes less is more, I don't think their music needs more flashy timed choreography, sometimes I do prefer the warriors just standing there in the shadows lol. Hamrer Hippyer in this alcatraz live is far superior for me, especially the atmosphere, the camera angles, and maybe it is a mix of reverb or the poor bitrate that made it sound more atmospheric but the drums are heavier in reverberating and you can hear hepta hipti for the first time in a pro recorded live recording, it has a more trance like atmosphere than the LIFA version, listen to a better quality version cranked up in volume and you'll hear the difference. Othan is even more amazing, especially Kai's parts, and how it ends, so perfect, ending way better than on LIFA. Kai touching each of the warriors spears during Alfadhirhaiti is also a highlight. I only miss Fylgia Ear here from LIFA. Krigsgaldr was never a highlight for me, for some reason the album version sounds better, more ethereal and menacing, sometimes Maria is off tune especially in Krigsgaldr, I really don't know why because she hits other more difficult notes perfectly. Edit: you are probably right about the touring, sometimes too many dates especially in the US and strain on the voice and mind, it is a double edged sword with lengthy tours. The crowd is a festival crowd after the pandemic so understandably they might be hearing Heilung for the first time in their lives and are drunk lol. Maori stance, I have no idea really, they started doing that some time after LIFA I think. Again I love LIFA when it was the only live record avaliable, some songs are still tops there like In Maidjan/Futhorck but since then some other live versions have topped it or been better for me.
