I have a scenario, I made a Production Order entry in which total 100 Units of RM(QRs.1/Unit) will be consumed to produce 10 Units of FG . So, at the time of posting of consumption Journal RM Inventory will be credited and Inventory WIP will be Debited with Rs.100 and on posting of the Output Journal Inventory WIP will be Debited with Rs.100 and Inventory FG will be debited with Rs.100. After some days sue to some scenario cost if RM got changed and new cost of RM is Rs.1.1o/Pcs then how we can change the G/L like WIP and other that is already posted??

Hi Saurav.Upgrade from BC14 CU12 to BC23 RTM version fails with this error. I did a force sync and data doesn't move to extension tables. Sync-NAVApp -ServerInstance bc230 -Tenant default -Name "bc14baseapptablesonly" -Version 2.0.0.0 -Mode Sync-NAVApp : Table 14 Location :: The field 'Shop' cannot be located. Removing fields is not allowed. On BC23.1 Plstform release notes, I could see data doesn't move to extension tables from BC19 to BC23 and CU is provided to fix the same. 487773 Unable to upgrade from version 19 to version 23 due to an issue related to the new Table Extension Model.

Hello @krishnachaithanya3755, thanks for your comment! You should never do a force sync. What is Shop field Id in Business central 14? Which localization you are using in BC14? If you have seen that in platform release note, then you should be doing BC 14 CU 12 to BC 23.1 or higher. Which route you are taking is it => BC 14 to BC 23 or => BC 14 to BC 19 to BC 23?

@@sauravdhyani i agree Force is not the correct option. But just wanted to give it a try. Im following bc14 cu12 GB to bc23 GB. Shop field is custom field. To upgrade to bc23.1 from bc14cu12, the compatibility matrix doesn’t support. That is where im a little doubtful if i can play with higher CU’s. On a separate point, i want to highlight that Recently MS mentioned in compatibility matrix NOTES that all versions of BC are compatible with BC24.0.

Did you watch all parts of Upgrade video Series - Upgrading Your Customized C/AL Application to Business Central 23 (Part 1, Part 2 & Part 2). You can play with higher CU. The first video should explain you that.

@@sauravdhyani Watched all the videos. Can you share here the jumps you followed like the CU's(I remember in one of the videos, you mentioned it)? The compatibility matrix video helped in confirming the higher CU's. Thanks for that. I have checked many times if I'm doing a mistake but that is not the case. May be I will give it a try with BC23.1 or higher one or BC24.0(MS mentions this in NOTE on compatibility matrix page) All version 14 updates are compatible for upgrade with Business Central 2024 release wave 1 (version 24) and later release waves.

Hello @nixonsamuel8079, thanks for your comment! Sorry but Custom Views or any other kind of customization will not be replication. During replication Microsoft looks (search) for table name which exist in SaaS in on Prem environment. If table is found the data gets copied otherwise skipped. Only data moves during replication, nothing else.

Hello Saurav and thanks for this video- very informative. We have a migration project from NAV 2016 to BC 14- we have performed a review of all our processes and feel that all "out of the box" features in BC meet our current needs- therefore, we're only looking to migrate basic transactional data and not bother with prior extensions, customizations, etc. I was curious if we could set up a consulting session with you to review our upgrade plan prior to embarking- do you offer this kind of service? I am based in the US, however the company being migrated is UK based NAV. Thank you!

Hi! Do you know if its posible to get the "Links" from an item in BC from the API? In BC i can add one or more links under attachments to a item, and i would like to get links attatched to the item :)

Thank you so much, Saurav! To me it's ridiculous that they make such an impactful change without any official announcements. It's not even in the Business Central Application Server System requirements. This sucks rats ass, frankly. I'm really disappointed. We have our own powershell module that just stopped working after we upgraded a handful of databases to BC24. Yes, obviously it's just test and that's why we do tests. Nonetheless any kind of upfront information about this would have been essential. Now instead of starting my holiday, I'm stuck with fixing broken cmdlets instead of doing 5 lines worth of work as planned -.- I read official docs a lot, because I don't like surprises. That's how I noted that Server 2022 is a prerequisite now and Server 2019 isn't officially supported anymore. Fine by me. But requiring new software (which ps7 is) should also be in the docs. It usually is, I honestly have no idea, how they just forgot about that. Really frustrating to have a breaking change that could have been planned for with any kind of heads up.

Hello @jakobtheiner6329, thanks for your comment! I totally agree with your views, and I can understand the frustration. Breaking Changes Should cover overall product not just the code. Microsoft need to work on it, they also changed API in previous version and caused so many issues. May be its a good idea to add into BC Ideas website (experience.dynamics.com/ideas/) and hopefully that changes things in future. I am sure you will be able to phrase it better than me attempting it. Give it a try and let's hope for best.
