Thank you! Yeah, we've been working on a few things since Spine came out - mainly another film in the same setting - but independent feature animation is a slow road, so it'll probably still be a while before we've got anything we can show off. Hopefully not as long as last time, though!

Hello, Morgan! I saw Exordium back in '18 and have been going back and rewatching it occasionally ever since. And just recently I was surprised to discover Spine of Night! Like. what? There's a full-length version of this short!? And it's so, so impressive and awesome that it still gives me goosebumps. I run a KZbin channel of movie and cartoon dissections, and I really want to do a dissection of Exordium and Spine of Night. Tell me, would you be interested in a small interview with me, literally for 30-40 minutes? I would like to know what you as an author put into your creations, what meanings and ideas and.... what questions you wanted to ask the viewer, what problems and dilemmas you wanted to put them in front of.

Oh wow, this is great, I had no idea this was the precursor to The Spine of Night, just watched it recently. It's very impressive that this is all 100% hand rotoscoped right? Did you use any interpolation for this? Also was wondering how it was working on The Spine of Night. I am actually writing my masters project on rotoscoping and would love to ask a few questions if you have the time.
@GorgonautAnimation7 ай бұрын
Yeah, all by hand with a Wacom in Photoshop - no interpolation. I'd be happy to talk with you - the contact form at gorgonaut.net (that unlabelled envelope icon) will reach my email, if you'd like to get to arrange something.

Is Mongrel a eunuch, by the way? I seem to recall him not fathering an heir in Spine of Night.
@GorgonautAnimation10 ай бұрын
He is, yes - canonically, he was 'castrated and exiled' as a young man from his father's small desert kingdom, Im-Baar, on the outskirts of the Ul-Imir region, after a coup. There's more Mongrel stories in the works, so we should see him again, some day!
