you got it wrong, Slovaks had a kingdom, it was called Hungary and founder's name is LadiSLAV. Study bit of history. They just spoke Hungarian in Budapest university. Same as Czechs spoke German and Latin in Prague Uni.

Went to India 6 years ago,spend more time in the North and it has so many beautiful places like beautiful mountains,nature and scenery, and also visited the capital,New Delhi,which for being a city theres a lot of traffick but that's normal in big cities,but over all liked it and looking forward to visiting again❤

You don't need to learn to speak the dialect, but it really helps to understand it. Most Austrians or Bavarians will switch to Standard German if they realize you are not a local, but others won't. And even their "Standard German" will be influenced by dialect. And a group discussion might also be in dialect. Then there are the different names for fruits and vegetables. Even northern Germans have trouble with the language in the south. I(German) didn't have these problems as my mother is from Austria and I was there for weeks at each vacation. I can't speak a dialect but I understand most of them (apart from strong Gsibergerisch).

My plan is to start with practice reading German without mistakes . Then , practice reading novels or and texting in German out loud with translation to improve speaking and vocabulary at the same time. This is also helpful to speak correctly . I am also trying to add listening module into the mix by watching any familiar show that I have already seen, in German.
