VEry true. There is no Yoruba in Ifa. . The issue with the name is part of the British cancel culture which already saw a higher culture and it feels inferior to it. Look at us today. Hardly would you see a Yoruba man who speaks the language without adding English. We need to change this pandemic in our time. The British cancel culture has failed. ISESE yet lives.. ISESE lagba!

Hi! Great work and thank you for this analysis. But I think the question was not really answered... Yes, Oranmiyan who founded Oyo was a descendant of Odùduwà. But is Ooni also a descendant of Odùduwà?

Thanks for this honest review. Great movie, but I'm always let down by the quality of Yoruba language spoken in our "epic" movies. We should do better going forward. Historical accuracy is also important whether the movie is for entertainment or not. The public will alwys take this for Yoruba history. Peace!

greetings to you sir, I appreciate all your good work and I have learnt a ton from you. If you won't take offence I would like to point out that the country is pronounced (binin) republic when speaking English as (bene) will never be spelt "Benin" in English and when you say (bene) republic you are mixing two languages together. we say the Ivory coast or Côte d'Ivoire and not Côte d'ivory. so we either say (binin) republic or Republique du (bene). shout out to you for spreading knowledge

Beautifully put, I'm only here because i was looking into Yoruba because of Beyonce. So here I am to learn. It sickens me to hear people referring to traditional spiritual practices as "devil worship", its simply not true

Thanks for this. I know we have dearth of history records or data due to lack of documentation which were only based oral rendition, hence, different versions of legendary stories. But with this movie, it is evident we are the agent of our culture degeneration. This is an over-adulterated and diluted version of the story, just for sensationalism and profit. This is an insult to the entire Yoruba culture and Oyo history. Films are not just for entertainment or pleasure, they are crucial tools to documenting history and transferring culture from one generation to the other, even if it's fictional.

The biggest issue for me was the lack of extensive proverbs and idioms, I think i use more idioms and proverbs in my daily interactions more than the movie. But overall, it was a great movie. Meanwhile, is it true that Bashorun Ga'a was tied to a horse and dragged throughout the city? I have always known that part of Ga'a's end. And great review from you too
