what if spider was in jake’s place?

i know briseis in the 2004 film adaption isn't very faithful to the Iliad, but I really love what they did with her character, and of course the love story between her and achilles. For me it was one of the best parts of the movie, very poetic and beautiful.

Okay, so hear me out: We all know that Kiri is special and has a unique bond with Eywa, but I think Spider is also "connected" to Pandora in some way. He is human, but was born and raised on Pandora, among the Na'vi. It is clear from his behavior in the film and comic that he identifies more with the Na'vi than with humans, and even as a human (however strange it may sound), he recognizes them, the Na'vi, as "his" species. Even the RDA people noticed this, saying "this kid has gone completely wild, he thinks he's Na'vi" when they kidnapped him and locked him in a cell. It's funny, but I feel like in a way Spider is closer to Pandora and belongs to her even more than Jake himself. I think that Eywa herself is able to know "good people" from bad ones - take, for example, Grace, who, even though she was human (although unlike Spider, she had an avatar) respected Eywa's will and understood Na'vi traditions and customs. This is what "seeing" is all about in Na'vi culture. I believe that Spider, despite his controversial choices (saving Quarrich), does not deserve all the hate he receives. In my opinion, he is a very complex and yet unique character (he is literally the first human teenager to grow up after the war on Pandora, he is friends with Sully's children, he considers them his only family). When he was kidnapped by Quarrich and intimidated by the transmitter placed in his mask, instead of being afraid of the Colonel, he openly showed contempt for him, ridiculed him and treated him with superiority because he knew that Quarrich did not know the ways of the Na'vi - unlike him. Additionally, Spider demonstrated his loyalty to the Na'vi numerous times throughout the film. I believe that his character is the best example that family does not mean only kinship and can be found in friends (Lo'ak said about him in the comic book "Spider is our brother, too!", but this is just one example of many how much siblings Sully and Spider are loyal to each other and consider themselves family.) Also, I don't exactly see Kiri and Spider as a romantic couple, rather best friends or extremely close siblings. However I do agree that their relationship is amazing and was portrayed beautifully, as hey both can share experiences of being orphans and relate to one another.
