Hi Laytblu. Personally, I much prefer the atmosphere of the original game on PS2. With this remastered 2024 version, the atmosphere of the game is neglected (visual effects) and is more reminiscent of Resident Evil or Alone in the Dark (old generation). I also bought the upgraded version of SH2 and SH3 for Xbox 360 years ago, but I didn't think about it again before I watched you play. I searched my 😆 cabinets. Maybe during the holiday season 😋 And if I don't like this either, I'll have to reinstall the PS2 😅. What is your personal opinion on this new version?

I haven't played the old version so I may be biased but I liked the new version especially the sound design. It's really crisp and it can really get to you in some scenes. Too bad it doesn't run that great on steam deck which is the only console I have that can run this game

@@laytbludecky You are a real player Laytblu, playing everything on PC 😅 I am unable to play SH on PC lol, I did with "Obscure" but it was awful to beat the main boss at the end...with keyboard it took me one day LOL. I am the kind of woman who loves scare games, but freeze when fights are engaged ... 🤣 Have a lovely day. P.S. I have kept PS2 you can convert in PS1 with a special slot to be able to replay SH1 one day (it will hurt my eyes, so pixeled 🤓... I am an old generation of player 😉

Looks like it performs pretty well and I'm at least partially intrigued by the gameplay. Not a fan of Fairy Tail dude's art, but it has my attention. That first skip though, I felt that lol. The yapping was never ending 🤣

@@laytbludecky is the battery drain at least low? I've played a few games that refuse to run great but also only drain like 15w or lower at least. I'll have to take a look at some steam reviews too and see if it's just a general performance issue or maybe something with Linux

So it looks like you CAN play it solo? The review I saw said it had to be Coop, but I guess it's just cause you have to do everything. Glad you checked it out, I'm a huge TS fan and was eying this game for a while haha.

Which Runner are you using? I'm encountering some lag in transitions (like moving from Home to In-Game Story) with Proton GE 9.16 using Bottles. Tho not sure if placing the game files in my SD card has a factor in it .🤔

No idea. Try pressing and holding steam button, you should be able to use right trackpad to move the mouse

Did you change any settings in RPCS3 to make it run this well? I'm getting wildly fluctuating performance, anything between the single digits and 30fps, and it's really unpleasant. Curious how you managed to get nearly locked 30fps here

What TDP are you using? I didn't make any tweaking, just used default rpcs3 settings

@@laytbludecky I didn't set a TDP limit at all. Checked RPCS3 settings, and I'm using Vulkan too. I tried cranking up the min frequencies of both CPU/GPU to their max values using PowerTools, and that seemed to improve it a bit, but neither are near full utilization and the framerate still fluctuates. Did you install RPCS3 through EmuDeck? If so, I might try restoring default settings and see if that works

It's very good especially with mods. I'm running it at lock 45fps and I get 3+ hours gameplay. The only issue I have is it doesn't have gamepad support even though there's a console version.
