Next time maybe you could put the camera on a tripod or on a table… it was all over the place and hard to stay focused.

Hey. So say you need to fabricate a flexible hose with the connections 6-inches apart. I know it states that the hose must be fabricated 5 to 8 percent longer to allow for pressure movement. One of the possible practical projects is to fabricate a replacement line, so I was wondering how you would size in this example a 6-inch hose 5-8 percent longer?
@thewrightstuff797111 ай бұрын
Okay so you have 6 inch hose you want it to be 5% larger but you want to turn 5% into a decimal so divide by 100. Gives you .05, you will then do 6 × .05 giving you .3. But you can't measure .3 so it has to be a fraction. So .3 × the divisor say for this example 32nds. So .3 times 32 equals 9.6 round it to 10 which means your 5% hose extension becomes 6 and 10/32nds of an inch

If you have a general aviation piston, twin, more than likely, you got one of these in the nose.

Don’t you have to subtract the weight of the level and the chalks from the total weight of the aircraft?
@nnekaib2 жыл бұрын
Certainly what ever that is not part of the empty weight of the aircraft weighed should be removed by subtraction.

I guess he's trying. 35 years in the business, I'm the leading expert in the nation on cabin heaters for general aviation twins. Bleed air is for turboprops. Ram air means ram air through the nose. The heater he is showcasing moves hot air with ram air in flight.
@emilyleos8159 Жыл бұрын
Agreed, I am not an expert in this. Only a student attending college in this field with barely a year in. At the airport, I was working on a Piper Aztec aircraft which uses the janitrol combustion heater system, air comes from the nose up through the cabin forward and through the bulk head. Its intersting because another group that was working on a king air aircraft, had the bleed air type system (supercharger) and there was a janitrol installed in one the engines. Literally, prior to the aircraft being donated to the school, someone had installed all of the wrong components in one of the engines and I still can't process that.

Or you could put the part in a vise (or other fixture), and hold the micrometer.

I watched the video closely and if this was a certification practical project the applicant would have failed. They should have been a check to leave 0.005 inches to 0.031 inches clearance between the nipple hex and socket. As a DME I provide a set for feeler gauges and if the applicant follows all the directions as written in AC 43.13-1B FIGURE 9-8. Hose assembly instructions (can be used for low-pressure hydraulic fluid, and oil line applications). The failure is caused by not following all of the steps and missing the clearance check. This is why there are checklists in aviation.
