Is the subfloor paneling step a requirement? Couldn't tell if that was something you did because of the drain you mentioned or if it was something that you have to do before installing the panels :)

I only did that because of the drain. If it's a flat surface, you don't need the paneling. I ended up moving it to another area, and I got rid of the paneling, and it was just fine without it.

It all depends on how much the refs let them play. Some are stricter than others. Some let them play up to a certain point.

If you buy one... They are great little toy mowers until you need parts. There is no parts catalog for this particular model that I could find on the interent and Kid Trax support not very helpful. If anyone knows where there is a list of part numbers for this model, please post them.

They are all 11 or 12. Some 10 if they are playing up an age division. We had a couple on our team that were 10.

It is a nice rink. It has an indoor rink as well. The players enjoyed the outdoor feel at this rink.

Great video. I wish my parents could have afforded synthetic ice when I was a kid. My garage looked similarly to your son’s awesome arena but I had to do it on inline skates. If I ever have kids some day I definitely want to do this for them

I was on I 55 when it hit. I couldn’t see 5 feet in front of my truck. After waiting out the storm in a random motel I got back on the road and saw hundreds of downed power lines and trees. Then I got back on the highway and counted 7 flipped semi trucks. This storm was no joke. The entire event lasted maybe 30 minutes.

Thanks for the suggestion. My son plays for Springfield so that is my main focus. Next year I am going to cut and save videos differently so I may be able to pull that off. We'll see what happens. We won't be in Springfield next season so my focus will change to a different team. It takes a ton of time to review each game and look for the best plays. So that could be 40 plus games. Depending on where I can film I don't always have the best angles and video quality. I'm hoping this next season I'll have a better system, and an upgraded camera to zoom in on the action.

We've had no problems with it. He rides it every day until the battery drains. We charge it up, and he rides it again.

I most definitely would. It's not the same as real ice but the convenience of it makes it worth it. Synthetic is the closest you are going to get though. Since you can use real skates on it you can lace up anytime you want and not have to pack everything up for a trip to the rink. It is super durable and nearly indestructible. If you purchase the ice I'd suggest getting the lubricant. It really does help with the friction. Since it's diluted with water the lubricant goes a long way. Good luck and happy skating!

My son is a goalie and I would like to buy him synthetic ice which I’m planning to put in our garage. But I have a concrete floor, so what do you recommend I put under the synthetic ice please?! Do you think I should put plywood under or rubber pads?! Thank you

If it's level you really wouldn't need to put anything under it. If it's a rough surface and wavy, for lack of a better word, rubber pads would be sufficient. Plywood is overkill unless the concrete has a big dip in it. But remember, the thicker the ice the more rigid it will be. Mine is 1/2 inch and is very rigid.

Yes it is underneath the entire surface. If the surface is level, such as level concrete you wouldn't need it. I only used it because of a drain in that particular spot of the garage floor. As a matter of fact, I ended up moving the ice surface to a different area in the garage and I didn't use the plywood. My son couldn't tell the difference.
