I have a V1 Gen2 and I put my suction cups away and designed a magnetic mount for it. Much more stable now... no wobbling from suctions cups. Won't ever fall. Or you can use the sun visor clip mount too.

Interstate 84 eastbound and yes the local sheriff does write tickets out there. However I think the officer was realistic about not having a speed lock and just let you go with a warning. Or some jurisdictions require a speed lock per policy to write a ticket. Honestly that warning is worse then a traffic ticket because you can't fight it.

Do state police have radar detector jammers? I was on I-80 in Illinois on 9/1/2024 at 11:30 PM doing 85 mph and my MAX360C had the "HIGHWAY" label go black. The speed was still on and my overspeed was still showing, but my radar itself wasn't working until I passed the state police. The "HIGHWAY" label came back on and a few miles down the road, almost to Rt-355, I saw another state police hiding. My MAX360C "HIGHWAY" label went black again, and after passing him, , the "HIGHWAY" label came back on. Really weird.

I have the R3 and i have used it for three years and it's been incredible. DPS in az rarely shoot and point if they do it's usually a motorcycle cop in the city. I did a 8,800 Mile roadtrip for 2 1/2 months last year and oregon tried to so hard. The other major major suggestion *FOR EVERYONE* Use Waze and Post There Locations This helps so so much as well. You based in AZ? I would love to have this in my car. I am in Gilbert

lol, no way this guy out of a 25+ ticket from a North Carolina trooper. Officer discretion is involved so take this with a grain of salt but in NC on a 4 lane highway if the posted speed is 55 they usually let you go 70. If its posted 65 they usually let you go 80. They will rarely ever pursue a speeding violation of less then 10 mph in excess. The language of NC law makes these tougher to prosecute in court.

I just found this video because my Uniden R3 just picked up a gatso RT4. First time I heard it. However, I just updated it to the latest firmware, so perhaps that's part of it.

Did you read the video description? Your answer is right there. Pacing means at the same speed. Estimating a speed is different than pacing. Officer later acknowledged he estimated my speed (quite accurately), but that’s not a pace.

Barely moving faster than the rest of traffic, but without alert on detector or in Waze. So yeah it was surprising. I guess you never got a ticket you didn’t know it was immediately coming.

I was driving from SC to Fla last week. Going 90 in a 70 on I95. Radar didn't go off, but i saw the police on the other side. He looked at me and sped up quickly. I stepped on the gas and sped up because there was the wire barrier between the lanes. I pulled off on an exit and came around ac shopping center next to the interstate. I saw the police car speeding down I95 where I was headed. I'm not certain, but i think he was looking for me. I waited about 15 minutes and went back on the interstate. Very intense and adrenaline rushing.

I have done similar things. I the Fast Driver Handbook it advised using Road Topography as a shield. A continuous barrier in the median is almost a licence to speed. I learned so many neat little tricks from that book.

"Avoiding Speeding Ticketd, The Fast Drivers Handbook " a little bit dated on radar detector improvements and laser but still a lot of very valid info. I don't speed anymore because I never need too and my eyesight isn't great anymore but I got very good at it at one time. This bible of speeding was a great help if one can still find it.

Craig Peterson penned a fabulous book entitled Fast Driving (without tickets). The book had an in-depth (if not somewhat dated) account of how to avoid speeding tickets, with a number of war stories. I so enjoyed its reading I encouraged Craig to write a follow on book, which he did. Craig and I are cut from the same cloth. For both of us, radar detectors are merely means to an end and that end is driving. We have shared countless war stories some where we’ve won others where we didn’t. What it detect farther if you had a higher up on your windshield? And do you keep it low so it's not that noticeable

Potentially but not by much. Generally perhaps an improvement when there is obstruction such as a concrete barriers from patrols on other sides. I keep it low for two reasons. One is it’s less noticeable (I can’t stand other timid drivers that only speed when using a rabbit). No one gets a free ride on my tail. Second, I leave it low to maximize chances of detecting police lidar. I use Veil, especially on rental cars, and when you have a great laser detector like the Cobra RAD 700i, it can make a difference. I have other videos proving Veil’s efficacy in a number of police laser encounters.
