To be fair, with Tesla, they're using a lot of their data collection to build out their Full Self Driving. Many other auto mfrs are collecting data and selling it to data brokers which then sell that data to your insurance provider which could result in your rates going up. Tesla only does that when you use their insurance. Beyond that all data they collect stays within Tesla. At least, that's what they claim
@trailstoneinsurancegroup3 күн бұрын
Hey @stephenpatterson8056, you are right and we think eventually all auto insurance rates will be heavily influenced by the actual driver more than underwriting models. and Tesla is great at collecting the data to improve the self driving features. btw, did you see my video on how the other auto manufacturers are selling driving data as you mentioned, please check it. ~ Tia

Hello @ronv8487, unfortunately yes... many states are seeing significant increases in uninsured drivers. more important than ever before to have coverages to protect you and your family from uninsured drivers. Coverages vary by state, so consult with your agent , but you are looking for coverages like UM/UIM coverage, MedPay and PIP... yes i know that is insurance jargon so make sure to ask your agent what they mean. Most insurance companies demand that they have both your homeowner's insurance and auto insurance to purchase umbrella coverage. Here in California where so many insurance companies are leaving because of homeowners risks due to fires, you are in a predicament. She made no mention of that. $300 sounds like a low floor for Umbrella, likely an underlying amount of $500K

Hi @stevespatola763, you are correct companies do require a bundle for an umbrella, remember Trailstone works with more than 40 insurance companies so we have more options to help find the right package for our clients. This also relates to the home liability coverage of $300,000, we have many umbrella carriers that will accept $300k for the underlying limit, and you are correct some require $500k. One of the big reasons to work with Trailstone, we can tailor make the policy for your needs and have more flexibility than most independent insurance agencies. thanks for you comment and watching the video, great comment. ~ Tia

This was predictable for Tesla Insurance. It’s better to pay the higher rate with an established, reputable car insurance company than to go with Tesla Insurance, in my opinion. Unless service has improved drastically lately. Tesla had a similar problem with their Energy Division here in FL - for Solar & Powerwall Battery installs. I know that from personal experience. And there were even some rising complaints in 2019-21 that their car service dept’s weren’t keeping up with the huge growth of new Tesla vehicles on the road - although, to be fair, some of that was probably pandemic-related. Tesla has since addressed the car and energy service gaps. Not sure about Insurance. Tesla initially understaffs their customer service dept’s as Elon’s philosophy is “the best service is no service” (I.e., not needing service because the product is so good that it hardly ever requires service). But, no matter how good your product is, you can’t avoid collision repairs resulting from chaotic drivers & roads. So, they staff up only AFTER learning their lesson via bad publicity and, presumably, lost sales. Not sure if they’ve reached that point with Insurance yet.
@trailstoneinsurancegroup2 ай бұрын
Hi @Widdermaker, wow... great comments and I agree with you. Tech in all aspects of our life is changing so fast, Tesla has done a lot of great things, it is unfortunate they "follow the no service" needed philosophy. Anyone else experience this with Elon's company's? I know Starlink has experienced some of those comments. thanks again for the comments ~ Tia

Hi@@harveypaxton1232, thanks for bringing up FSD (Full Self Driving), great to know your rates are coming less without the FSD. You should have stated up front that State Farm General only applies to California, and not the rest of the country. State Farm in the rest of the nation is A rated. State Farm has been loosing its shirt in California on home insurance, and State Farm is withdrawing from home insurance in California as a response... Overall - a very misleading video.
@trailstoneinsurancegroup4 ай бұрын
Hi, you are correct State Farm General is a CA company, unfortunately, State Farm National owns the CA company and nationally State Farm is raising rates and non-renewing folks, this is not just happening in CA but across the county. ~ Tia
@perryallan35244 ай бұрын
@@trailstoneinsurancegroup Almost all insurance companies are raising rates across the country due to unusually high inflationary increases for the cost of repairing cars, houses, etc. But California and Florida has exceptionally high insurance losses for a number of insurance companies largely because those States have refused to allow the insurance companies to increase rates to offset the higher risks that are now apparent. Thus a number of companies are leaving those States - especially for the house/structure insurance segment.

might have been a more accurate video 10 years ago but "captive companies" aren't that captive any more. Companies Like Farmers was used as an example as captive but left out that they have their brokerage Kraft Lake which always Farmers agents to write business with other carries such as progressive, Safeco, etc. even if the only reason is price. Some times Captive companies are the best option for customers, right now in my own state companies like State Farm are by far the cheapest for most people, not that premium is everything but it was another point made. No offense to any independents or to Trailstone as there are certainly pros of being independent I wouldn't deny that. I just think many of the arguments of why captive is so bad simply isn't true anymore.. At least not for all carriers some still are pretty bad.
@trailstoneinsurancegroup5 ай бұрын
Luke_816, Thanks for your insights! The insurance landscape has changed, with companies like Farmers offering more flexibility to agents, this can provide some benefits to customers by providing options from multiple carriers. Also, you're spot on about Farmers and Kraft Lake offering additional choices beyond Farmers. Unfortunately, I have spoken with too many agents at Farmers, as well as other captives, and they will not offer an insurance company other than their captive brand because those commissions are significantly reduced. Here at Trailstone, our commission structures are fairly uniform and we are not deciding what to offer our clients based on a commission structure, we will offer what is best for the client. Your perspective on captive versus independent models adds depth to this discussion, thanks for sharing! ~ Tia
