Really well explained video! I like the Mach e and have been considering an ev to save on gas costs but have a few concerns. I have to drive 130 miles round trip for work and live in Canada where it is commonly -20 to - 40 Celsius. I drive 35000 miles a year. Would you recommend EV for my circumstances?

Bought mine in July of this year (2023) and I love it. I did what you did: took over somebody's order, but in this case the car was on the dealers lot. Initially looked at a black one, but it needed body work after a mishap on the dealer's lot (not by me, lol). I ended up with a "Star White" one, which is a sparkly, metal flake kind of white color. Kind of like the old "Oxford White", but with sparkles. Totally agree on the tire width. But this car really makes me happy. No markups by the time I bought mine and in fact Ford was offering $3000 off because they had reduced prices on newer ones -- but of course you'd have to wait and order one. I find the Select singularly well equipped for a base model. Before that I had a Ford Fusion Energi -- a plug in hybrid. But Ford has a major recall going on that means you can't charge it and it becomes a straight up hybrid. No word on when they could fix it. So I made them take it in trade at full value. I was upside down and lost $1000 on the trade in, but I came out okay. Sorry you had that ridiculous "market adjustment" stuff. But you got a good car. And battery degradation really depends on how you charge it: don't charge it to 100% all the time, and do "fast charging" as little as possible. If you're always charging with level 1 or 2 charging you probably won't notice any degradation at all. Good video, thanks.

I wish I could post pictures because my calTric battery did the same thing. I was riding around town with my wife and I stopped at autozone to pick up something from my car and I smelt sulfur. If it wasn't for a member in my motorcycle riding group the day before mentioning that he smelt sulfur and his battery almost blew up I would have just kept riding until it blew up. I still have the battery It blew out on all sides including the top. I went off on CalTric and they sent me a replacement battery and my money back. I feel like if this is happening to multiple people then some sort of lawsuit should be made because this is dangerous. People are literally riding around with a bomb under their ass.

Do you have the link for where u got this exact one?
Tires: you can get the 245's for the car (like my GT Performance, AWD) but that means new wheels and tires and a possible non-warranty voiding modification. I have switched from the OEM Pirelli's summer tires to Goodyear performance all seasons as the former were like hard plastic below 45F; the range and efficiency has been the same. Another factor is Magna-Ride suspension. ALL models should have that. Also AWD makes a big difference. Mark ups: mine was $2000 initially but went to $4000 just before delivery. I have seen used GT's selling for more than my final price. Heat: by now you should have received the update for sub zero weather but even so I have seen as low as 2.1 mi/kwh down from an average of 2.8-3.1 in "summer" driving. These are final trip numbers as the initial ones will be lower, as much as down to 1.7mi/kwh at 5F. Range is affected greatly for me down from 260-270 to as little as 190 but each day is different if the temperature fluctuates and the range number will increase while charging. Also, dress warmly in the car up to 44F ambient. Charging: DO NOT use the Ford Pass app. You will be charged Electrify America's highest rate! ($0.43/kwh vs. 0.31) I just dropped mine after I used up my free 250kwh (I started without it for my first long trip to see the actual costs of a long distance trip and I now have 3 more over the next 6 months: EA and EVGo). The Future: Sodium based batteries for twice the range and no worries about charging to 100% every time (post 2025?, the factory is going to be built soon, this year, 2023); the Shelby Mach E GT about 2025-26 model year (already rated faster than the present GT's and possibly up in the Model S plaid range and they are not even finished with it yet!).

That’s a very common issue in Hobbywing escs for high load applications. If you are using Hobbywing escs there is no solution to the cut out issue except for investing in a cap pack. Castle escs such as the mmx8s are better suited for speed running and drag racing.
