I know I'm very late to the comment sections but I've been an Aircraft technician for over 7 years in the military and civilian sector. I have experience working with rotary and wixed wing aircraft, I have been recently exploring the insurance industry. I would like to hear what anyone would like to advise me to do to be able to get a role like this. Do I need to start in auto for experience in adjusting or get a license on my own beforehand? Also for what it's worth I am in the process of getting my bachelors degree but that takes time. I'd appreciate any advice

No sensible boss will put his subordinate on PIP. If an employee is on PIP then his boss has made up his mind to fire the employee. The employee should waste no time in trying to change mind of his boss. People very rarely change. Also they change only when they themselves want to change not because you want them to think differently. You're best bet is use your time, energy and resources to find next job.

Hi! I don't know if anyone still looks at this video as its fairly old, I have been working in Cyber and Tech E&O for around 5 months now, I will say my day to day is pretty much speaking to brokers about accounts or networking. For cyber and Tech I would say it takes a few hours for a single account, and I look at 3-5 a day depending on my workload, but its very fun as every account is different and if we plan to move to quoting and binding usually comes with a fun talk with a broker

I've got involved in some projects and I was told to develop document forms and technical chart format which delayed the outcomes. Also my manager kept asking to put additional items which is not from standard format but from his brain. As you can imagine, this caused constant dely of my work. Then suddenly my manager pin pointed me as under performer. Now sure what I will discuss with HR person on next Monday. I might need to revise my resume...

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:01:00 *🧑‍💼 John Kummer has a long background in insurance, moving from CPA work to significant roles in Florida's insurance regulation and founding insurance-related companies.* 00:02:45 *📊 Understanding the complexities of financial reporting in insurance is crucial, as companies must maintain statutory and GAAP accounting, which serve different regulatory purposes.* 00:05:10 *📑 Statutory accounting requires detailed reporting and is under tight deadlines, often leading to paradoxical financial outcomes for growing insurance companies.* 00:08:00 *⚠️ Citizens Insurance acts as Florida's market of last resort, regulated as a quasi-governmental entity without private capital at risk, putting Florida taxpayers potentially liable.* 00:11:30 *🔄 Depopulation is important for Citizens Insurance; it aims to reduce its market size through a formalized takeout process allowing private companies to assume its policies.* 00:14:20 *💰 Taking policies from Citizens is not a simple gift; it comes with substantial risk that can exceed premiums collected, making it crucial for firms to adequately prepare.* 00:17:00 *📉 Catastrophe modeling plays a vital role in risk evaluation for insurance portfolios, challenging the idea of cherry-picking low-risk policies.* 00:20:00 *📈 Building an insurance portfolio requires complex analysis, much like stock market investing, and involves comprehensive modeling to understand risk exposure.* 00:23:30 *⏳ The process of selecting policies from Citizens Insurance is lengthy and regulated, requiring careful tailoring to meet risk appetite and regulatory compliance.* 24:49 *🔍 Engaging with experienced professionals is critical when investing significant capital in risk management.* 25:45 *📄 The portfolio transfer process requires proper documentation and takes several weeks to months for approval.* 26:54 *🔄 Portfolio transfers occur on day one, with risk management shifting completely to the new carrier, while Citizens maintains premium collection.* 28:06 *🛡️ Claims responsibility moves to the new carrier immediately, but the policy document remains under Citizens' format until renewal.* 30:09 *⚠️ Poor execution in policy transfers can lead to transactional risks, reputational harm, and potential loss of future takeout opportunities.* 31:37 *🤝 Effective communication with stakeholders and policyholders is essential to maintain relationships and ensure customer satisfaction.* 32:18 *💰 Retaining customers after a takeout is crucial, as the acquisition process is costly and requires good service to prevent cancellations.* 33:25 *🔗 Collaborating with experts like reinsurance brokers and those familiar with Citizens can significantly ease the takeout process.* 36:41 *💻 Technology infrastructure is vital for managing multiple aspects of a takeout, including claims processing and communication with policyholders.* 39:08 *🔄 Outsourcing certain operations allows startups to manage costs while scaling their operations gradually as they learn from experience.* 41:52 *⏳ Start preparation for takeout processes early, as delays can lead to missed opportunities due to competition and regulatory hurdles.* 44:39 *📉 The takeout process involves significant risk, time investment, and resource allocation, contrary to misconceptions of it as easy money.* Made with HARPA AI

I’m sad to see all those stories in the comments where PIPs were “ways to sack people”. PIP is an acknowledgement that the individual continuously doesn’t perform to standards therefore the team leader or manager is requested to prepare a plan together with the individual. But it is on the individual to dictate where the plan is going to go - is it going to be a success story or the papers will be “evidence for bad performance” the decision is mainly on the individual. There are hefty processes behind a pip.
