Larry broke his B string mid song, did a fast retune and played his instrumental break without it. What impressed me is that instead of mentioning he had to play the last song missing a string, he just said his band was going to do an instrumental, let them pick one out and while they played it he changed the string. and just continued the set. I'll bet most of the audience never knew it.

I agree, the best version of the southern grass minus Bob paisley himself. My mom & dad a I saw them many many times. Especially at harpers ferry w. VA. And at the school house in buckets, VA. One of my fav. Memories was at lucketts one sat. Nite when Donnie stepped up and sang A FEW MORE SEASONS. I'm telling ya, he BROUGHT DOWN THE HOUSE. and in typical Bob Paisley fashion he says " OK that's enough, ya'll keep that up he'll want more money" I really miss seeing u guys Danny. Mom and dad are in heaven now, with dad right beside Bob in that big Ole circle of HEAVEN'S BLUEGRASS BAND. GOD BLESS.

This was an episode of Alabama Jubilee shot at the Central Alabama Music Park in Jemison, Alabama. I believe the "Frontier Range" listed in the heading is an error. The show was produced by University of Alabama Television Services and aired on Alabama Public Television. I worked on this series but don't recall if was on the crew on this occasion. I may be the camera operator you see in front of the stage. You can see another show from this series at the same venue featuring Bill Monroe and Lost and Found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3uTgX1sp5qLqsU

My grandma was Ruby and now my youngest granddaughter is Ruby. Grandma 👵 went to college to be a teacher in the early 1900s taught one year.. hated it.. went to nursing school and became a nurse. She worked at the State Insane Asylum where she met and married my grand father. That was before Woman’s Liberation. I’m an independent woman and I guess it’s in our bloodline 😅

I thought that was it! ‘‘Twas me sitting on the edge of the stage shirtless dark as a biscuit! I was 12 years or so old! I saw my uncle whom I was there with standing over beyond Sonny yellow and white hat in some of the first of the video! I sat a watched them my first glimpse of them live Opry stars ⭐️ in my eyes to! The film crew finally asked me to move I did but wasn’t fer away eyes glued on them ! Enjoyed every minute of it!
